Team Brolly or Team Spillane

Replying To browncows:  "Most of the pundits don't analyse but seek attention. A good 10 year old could do a better job without being biased."
Very true.

But Team Brolly for me all the way.

Spillane coined the phrase Puke Football when his beloved team couldn't cope with some Ulster teams but when Kerry the aristocrats of football resorted to it and won, the smug look on his face was sickening.

At least Brolly brings a bit of humour to it all also. The other fella would put you to sleep. :o)

To be fair, Brolly and Dolan just pointed out Pat was biased in my opinion.

Look at the Durkin incident yesterday, Whelan just said it doesnt look good. And moved on to say if hes suspended and Keegan is injured Mayo may have a difficult day the next day out. He didnt say....."Wow a Hayemaker......needs a least a month ban like.....Anthony Joshua like right hook......and you know I think he used to box!" That would be suggesting a punishment......

Replying To HighKings:  "Couldn't agree more. That's the whole thing summed up in a nutshell.

Nobody should take anything either Spillane or Brolly say too seriously anyway. They're in the entertainment business. And Jim Gavin has been saying for years that they don't listen to voices outside the camp and just follow their internal processes. So I think we should ignore Brolly, Spillane, Gavin and Dessie Dolan.

We should be talking about football instead."
You certainly got this spot on.

Team Spillane, no question. Pat just stated the obvious, there was no pro Kerry or anti Dublin agenda. Brolly was out of order. He is becoming a caricature, spouting rubbish just to provoke debate and controversy.

Replying To Breffni39:  "Eh Yeah... it got more attention from Spillane"
Yea, because that's his job. He's an analyst. he's supposed to analyse.

Replying To kildare73:  "Absolutely with Spillane on this one. Brolly's carry on on telly Sunday was not on. And Dolan just agreed with everything he said. Why wasn't Joe jumping all over Sky? They showed the game live and highlighted the incident afterwards multiple times. But he never mentioned them. Spillane did precisely zero wrong."
Dolan just goes along with Brolly.

Replying To Donegalman:  "Team Brolly this time. Connolly hardly lifted a finger and Spillane had a script ready that evening. Just stating facts, just being honest, just doing my job add infinitim."
Well the thing is, Connolly did more than lift a finger. He pushed an official which is clearly against the rules. He was actually quite aggressive in his demeanor.
Of course Spillane had an agenda, to do his job. He saw the incident in question and, in doing his job, he had to prepare in some way for the night's program. What was he supposed to do? Go on the Sunday Game and sit silently without addressing the issue. Brolly had an agenda though, his usual anti Kerry one.

Replying To Tirchonaill1:  "Team Brolly on this one but I can't stand either of them, Spillane obviously has an agenda to damage the Dubs in any way he can cause he's looking down the line to improve Kerry's chances."
LOL. If Kerry are depending on Pat Spillane to go on the Sunday Game to undermine Dublin, just to help Kerry's chances in the All Ireland, Kerry football would be in dire shape indeed. Luckily, we're not. That's one conspiracy theory too far.

I ain't pat Spillanes biggest supporter but I am with him on this.
He merely answered a question of which he would be deemed to be in the knowledge of. Otherwise why should he be on the Sunday game panel
For viewers to the programme who may not have access to the latest set of GAA rules then they would expect to hear the facts about the rules and Des Cahill asked the question ❓.
Pat Spillane has never gone as far as Joe Brolly.
I don't think for one moment he ever would. Like him or loathe him he is correct a lot of the time but I don't agree with some of his speculations some of the time.

Then why didn't he analyse the other incident in the game with a fine tooth combe where the linesman was verbally abused? If he's such a rules guru were was his rule book for that incident or his linking of one case to have to be punished because we recently had a similiar case so therefore they must apply the same pubishment like he did with Evan comerford but seemingly ignored Philly McMahon suspension for verbal abuse as the yardstick for that case

Neither, I'm over at Sky with Team McGuinness/Horan/Canavan, proper game analysis by modern era managers with more up to date thinking.

Des didn't ask pat about any other incidents in the Dublin v Carlow game hill.

Des asked him about Connolly.
