Yeah most inter-county players now are either civil servants or students. Same for the managers, lots are teachers etc

Very difficult for people in the private sector to have the time needed nowadays and if you're self employed forget about it.

Michael Murphy runs a sports shop in Letterkenny. Not only that, Michael Murphy Sports and Leisure sponsors the Donegal Senior Football Championship. In 2016, the competition was won by Glenswilly, whose star player was... Michael Murphy.

Dermot Earley RIP, Dermot Earley Junior, Kevin McStay, Gay Sheerin, army or ex-army men. I think Tommy Carr too? Surely plenty more army men and women.

A few of the Dubs' footballers are self employed.

Philly McMahon and Kevin McManoman, maybe one or two others.

Bernard Brogan as well.

The thing about this thread is how sexist and misogynist it is. Thousands of women have jobs too.

I can think of a few more too- Andrew O'Shaughnessy, Stephen Molumphy, John Maughan.

Isn't Jim Gavin in the air force too?

While they're not inter-county stars, I play hurling with two lads, one of which is an operatic conductor and the other is a naval architect. Beat that!

Kerry had a fella playing from 1910 to 1914 who was a flying pioneer, Pat 'Aeroplane' O'Shea. Remember this was only a few short years after the Wright Brothers flew at Kittyhawk in 1903.

Just messing, he got his nickname because of his high fielding :)
