The fact the match is in Croke Park is just the tonic Down needed after yesterday's disappointment.

There is no doubting Monaghan will be motivated, but I think our young players will embrace the Croke Park experience and will have a point to prove after yesterday.

Down didn't perform yesterday and when you don't being your A-game vs a top side like Tyrone you're always going to struggle. But it's important to place it into context. 8 of Down's starting line-up yesterday were 25 or under, with little inter-county experience. If Down can learn from yesterday's defeat then we have a chance vs Monaghan.

That said Monaghan are 2/5 favourites and it's extremely difficult to beat the same team twice in the championship.

Yes ...the expectation will be now be that monaghan should wipe the floor with down in this match. All the expert rte pundits have ranked the 12 teams left in the All-Ireland series and down is bottom with 2 pundits and the other pundit has ranked us 11th. Monaghan are ranked by all pundits a couple of places higher. Armagh are ranked higher than down also. Monaghan should therefore win this one easily....

Monaghan big favourites and very confident. Down to win again.

For me Monaghan are favourites. Despite Monaghan's struggle for form I don't think that they will be caught out by Down again.

Best wishes to Mark Poland who suffered a nasty looking injury in the Tyrone game. He has been a fantastic servant to Down over the last number of years and it would be hugely disappointing if that was his last game in Down colours.

I hope Down can shake off Clones and give everything for the next few weeks, to go out against Monaghan would be a disappointing end to a championship that promised so much. Monaghan will be happier with us than Kildare, likewise, I think we're happier with getting Monaghan. They've yet to produce in this championship and Down should be confident. Monaghan's performances to date haven't matched their hype.

Would you have been more wary of Armagh?

No look no argument there we haven't shown up yet this Summer for whatever reason it hasn't happened. Our hope here we show up for this one purely based on fact the players will know they let themselves down against ye and will want redemption. It is not often a team gets a chance like that in the same summer.

We've hardly played 20 mins of decent football in this years championship yet we still find ourselves in the last 12 with a shot at redemption v Down. I think there's a bit of a shake in us yet, hopefully the boys can put it all together v the Mourne men. Hon the Farney!

Definitely wanted to avoid Armagh. Our record against Armagh is dire and they look to be moving up the gears. Monaghan haven't played well and I'm not so sure that it will happen for you this year. Big game for both teams. I'm by no means writing off Monaghan but at this moment I'd take Monaghan over Armagh all day long.

I think Monaghan peaked against Cavan. They put so much in to that game that they havn't recovered. I can see a few straight reds in this game. Down to win again.

I was really hoping to have to play neither of Monaghan or Armagh again as both teams would want revenge or to right the
wrongs of the previous game. I would much rather have played Armagh rather than Monaghan as although they have
more scope for improvement from their
current level of performance which is not
a true reflection of their ability. I still think
Down will win again as I don't think Wylie
can contain Connaire Harrison and Monaghan just don't seem to be performing to their capabilities. If Monaghan bring their A game it will be a very difficult game for us. Beating Derry in
a great game at Celtic Park in the 2013 Ulster Championship and then losing a dour war of attrition game at the same
venue later that Summer in the qualifiers
shows that every game is different and
should be taken on its own merits.

Down at 4/1 are a great bet might have too much pace for this tired looking Monaghan Team.

We shall see. Its the draw we wanted. Down caught a Monaghan team off their game. I don't see it happening again.

Favourites yes but not big favourites. Best price I have seen is 11/4 for Down.

Monaghan havent played well for a full game so far. Its been a case of emptying a bench to beat less capable/less experienced sides in the second half with the exception of Wexford - that was over at half time and the loss against Down where we didnt show.

I wouldnt be shocked with any result in this one but I think we will prevail.

I dont think so...But I think Cavan peaked V Monaghan. Results since then would say the same....

Nonsense S Goldrick.........Monaghan didn't have to peak to beat Cavan..........no team from divisions 1 or 2 would have to do that.....but Cavan certainly peaked against Monaghan as evidenced by their subsequent displays !
