He is and he generally calls it as he sees it. He's fair and knows the game as it is played today and he has no agenda or doesn't appear to have anyway.

Be a huge fan of Off the Ball, for me they do the best coverage. Find it really frustrating that they lost their live GAA rights as never really warmed to the RTE versions of same.

I posted my own podcast a few weeks back - some of you might enjoy it but it won't be for everyone as very little game specific stuff. Just an hour long chat with individual players about life on and off the field. Kevin McManamon, Brendan Maher, Niall McNamme, Noel Connors, Eamon McGee, Jamie Clarke, Cora Staunton and Michael Quinn have all been on so far.

Check it out here if you are interested. Head to RealTalks.ie/podcast or search for 'Real Talks' on iTunes or SoundCloud.

Will be launching a second series next month

OTB is a guilty pleasure for me. Molloy is only good for soccer and Golf because he likes those two sports. A bit like Turbidy on the late late, perks up for the topics he is interested in and labours through the rest.

Gilroy is very good and has a genuine interest in all sports and it shows. The standard of the show is so much higher when he is there. The other lads are full of hot air and lack substance. Murphy has got schooled a couple of times by ex soccer players like Giles. I felt a bit sorry for him cos he'd make a statement and get completely shot down.

I find the hurling segment quite good despite Molloy's open contempt for the sport. Jamesie is a great analysis he leaves you with little nuggets of info you wouldn't find out otherwise like Richie Hogan's back is gone again. Shane Stapleton is good too and calls a spade a spade.

The rugby is generally quite good, just need to remove Gavin Commiskey. He doesn't add anything.

The Gaelic Football was really good but I find the OTB boys are gone a bit clannish of late and not as impartial as they use to be.

Yeah big fan of Off The Ball myself.

Only mild criticism I have is that I can't listen to Graham Hunter and they often slip into the "Ulster football is terrible" stereotype which I think should be below them.

Also it's probably cos I listen to it so much but they often have phrases that they do to death eg "Outlier", "The game is gone", "recency bias" etc. If they say it once they say it at every subsequent opportunity haha, I don't care how appropriate they are.

Don't get me started GreenandRed! Nothing makes me reach for the dial more. I've heard he has interesting guests on his podcasts but I'm never ever going to listen to them.

I used to like Hunter and even listened to his own podcast. He can be very smug at times I find, almost seems burdened by how much more he knows about football in comparison to the rest of us!

I wouldn't necessarily turn him off though as he can have some interesting things to say.

Jesus you have a lot of issues with the show. Funny you say someone was schooled by Giles, I think they need to get rid of Giles. He doesn't really know what is going on in modern football. I feel they still give him airtime out of loyalty more than anything else.

Generally I like OFF The Ball but there is far too much soccer on it and rugby too (even though I'd be a rugby fan).

Take during the National Leagues as a good example, they might have a one 15 or 20 minute segment on the weekend's GAA action on the Monday or Tuesday yet they have two dedicated 30 minute slots for rugby on Monday and Wednesday's and they have four 1 hour soccer show's after 9pm, even when a lot of the first two hours of the show has been dominated by soccer anyway. They simply don't give enough time over to the GAA.

Also I do find Molloy a bit arrogant and up himself - as someone posted above, the show is far better when Ger Gilroy is presenting it.

Second Captains is very good and the four lads come across as sound, but I didn't bother singing up to their paywall so only listen to the Monday shows.

You can't beat Terrace Talk especially during the League and Championship. It's just a pity Weeshie isn't at the helm anymore. You would miss his voice terribly on Radio Kerry :(

Actually yeah Giles is another turn off for me at this stage. Enjoy everything else though!

Joe Molloy >>>>>>>>>> Ger Gilroy

Love OTB & Second Captains. Ger Gilroy annoys me though! He asks a question and proceeds to propose the answer to his interviewee ....just ask the question Ger and let them make their own mind up!

I do really enjoy OTB during the week. Always pass the time if I am driving anywhere.
Sunday papers piece on obviously Sundays is quite good too.

Hahaha, I do indeed, no arguments there Flaker.

One of the great things about being Irish is we spot a spoofer a mile off. JM is not for me I'm afraid, too arrogant doesn't fully know the history and legacy of sport and rivalries outside Soccer and Golf. Hopefully, that will come as he gets older. He is a good broadcaster though and professional but I take it for granted that will be the case for a radio show presenter. I want to see the passion, I want to see the interest.

Gilroy's love of sport radiates across the airwaves, you stick him in front of a mic talking about anything and he seems to have a genuine interest. I like the way he tackles issues like the lack of respect paid to female sport in Ireland. He is asking the harder questions too, he used to give the interviewees an easy ride, in particular, Irish sports people but he better at grilling them now when the need arises.

Another thing that annoys me about the show while I'm at it, is it's quite obvious most of the OTB boys are Man United fans so you are subjected to a Man U overload. I'd rather hear more about Chelsea and Spurs, being the top 2 sides.

The Second Captains lads were far more genuine and interesting when they were working for OTB. McDevitt is a superb interviewer, a thousand times better than Molloy and a little bit better than Gilroy. Murph is witty, has genuine charm and knows his GAA. Ken is a soccer nut and deals with his lack of knowledge of GAA in a funny manner that makes you laugh and root for him even though you shouldn't. Second Captains are far more innovative too, the best thing they ever did was tell Denis O'Brien where to go. Not many people did that and lived to tell the tale.

I see what you mean about Giles, that's probably why they recruited Kilbane. I still like Giles though cos he helps join the dots between old school and modern football. That was a great move by OTB, Kilbane has serious contacts in the game.

The OTB lads have lost the run of themselves a bit cos they win PPI awards, sure who are they up against? RTE, I'd be worried if they couldn't beat RTE.

I think I need a lie down after that rant.

One of my favourite off-site broadcast moments was Hunter in Cashel. They were there ahead of a Tipp game in 2012 I think, probably Tipp vs Kilkenny semi-final. As expected most of the show was hurling focused that or involved interviews with famous Tipperary sports people.

Hunter was flown in from Barcelona and had to make a mad dash to Cashel in time for the football show. At that stage, the fans had got their fill of hurling and all you could here in the background was people chatting away in the pub and not paying too much heed to him. Poor old Hunter wouldn't be as well got in Tipperary as he is in Barcelona/Madrid.
