The Comerford case is slightly different in that he was red carded by the referee and THEN the 'interference with a match official' took place, and was noted immediately. Not absolving Connolly of wrong doing but the incidents are not the same, even if the rule cited is. As for the irony of Brollys involvement in high profile incidents, I agree it's unfair. He personally represented Matthew Fitzpatrick, yet only wrote a couple of lines about Connollys case, yet another case of bias against Dermo. But this is an aging Dublin team , with a lot of mileage , there hunger is quenched and a young hungry Kerry team played/kicked them off the park in Tralee and followed that up by beating them in the league final. Kerry also have James O'Donoghue back !! NUTS indeed !! Kerry are the team to beat. superbluedub (Dublin) - Posts: 2837 - 13/06/2017 16:48:15 1999201 Link 0 |

Hope he appeals and gets ban reduced. A summer without him would not be an-bhrónach ar fad! GormlaighG (Mayo) - Posts: 77 - 13/06/2017 18:13:42 1999247 Link 0 |

In fact its an 8 x 4 concrete pillbox, a candle, bucket, blanket, glass of water and three carrots a day, serves him right.

Training ban is part of it. Galvin got same in 08 and was way off the pace when he came on in final for first game back.

I actually don't think it will be. I can only assume that the delay in appealing was because the situation was being studied to see of they had a case worth fighting, and they obviously believed they had, hence the appeal. But that option to expose the loophole or whatever route they are going would not have been available at the first appeal anyway, so last night would have been just a formality, where the ban is reviewed, did x happen, yes or no, yes, then ban upheld. It's only on the further appeal that loopholes can be used.

Incorrect. Now the appeal goes to the CAC and if it fails there it moves on to the DRA.If he's still banned after the DRA they may even go to the courts. The GAA disciplinary process really does leave a lot to be desired . Barnowl94 (Galway) - Posts: 3150 - 14/06/2017 11:46:45 1999513 Link 0 |
How come he's getting a blanket? Favouritism again for the Dubs!

So is he allowed to train with the squad while banned or not? Gavvygavgav (Dublin) - Posts: 383 - 14/06/2017 12:22:08 1999537 Link 0 |
Nope. Ban at all levels and disciplines, and no training.
Jaden (Dublin) - Posts: 139 - 14/06/2017 12:38:53 1999541 Link 0 |
Exactly, as Jinxie also pointed out last night's appeal was only the first step in the process, and it was never in a position to overturn the ban, simply review if the incident took place. It will be at the third stage of the appeals process that a decision will finally be made one way or the other. This is perhaps the most frustrating aspect of the GAAs disciplinary machinery. There are so many layers to get through before a ruling is eventually made that from the outside it looks as though players or County boards are ignoring or belittling the likes of the cccc, when in fact they are forced to go through all the various steps of the appeals process before anyone makes a decision.
