Liam i think your comments on this situation are very honest and perceptive.

At the end of the day do we want angry young men putting hands on officials and gesticulating in an aggressive manner with no punishment? Be it Diarmuid Connolly from Dublin or Tom Murphy playing with Warickshire?

No. The lip service we pay to discipline and talking out of both sides of our mouth has to stop.

If that's wrong then why is Paul Kerrigan not getting a cccc suspension as he done same to braningan on Saturday?
It happens week in week out players touch officials are we going to pull them all on it?"
Hill
They are two different situations.
Kerrigan put his hand on his shoulder in a non aggressive way.
Connolly aggressively marched over, Shouting and pushed his hand into the linesman.
You see what Kerrigan done all the time. You are about to get a yellow card and you try to influence the ref by putting a hand on the shoulder as if he's your best mate, make out as if you done nothing wrong even though you and the ref know know fine rightly.

Replying To Ulsterman:  "Have to agree, the hypocrisy is just nauseating. Connolly has got off on two previous appeals and it wouldn't surprise me if he wins this one. Many within the GAA and media have Connolly on the first step to sainthood and it really galls many, particularly Ulster Gaels who have seen individuals and counties within the province crucified and attacked non stop by the same elements cheerleading for Connolly. I have said before, Dublin's constant flouting of rules and regulations, and Croke Park's backing of them, is doing untold damage and turning many off the GAA."
It was an Ulster gael that got him sent off on one of those occassions when he appealed, that disgraceful dive in 2011 in a quarter final you may remember. Bull, I don't remember Dubs posting on here to slam Cavanagh after his rugby tackle. It wouldn't have held much interest for us. If Cavanagh had nudged that linesman having been dragged out of by three opponents and then having a sideline ball incorrectly awarded against him and then had a 3 month band imposed, this forum would be swamped with Ulster posters claiming that there was an anti-Ulster agenda. Connolly should accept the ban and we'll take him back in August.

Ah please, he did more than touch him. Be reasonable at least. Your blue glasses really are working overtime on here.

Mayo are in the A side of the draw so we would avoid them in the Quarters if we win Leinster.

You seen reports in news papers and people immediately think it has to be true.
same as now there has been no confirmation from Dublin county board that they are appealing"
You seem to be a man in the know. Can you answer the questions below so.
Can somebody please tell me how alot of people seem to know what is in refs report? When it was compiled, how the ref decided what to put in the report and when the report was submitted.
Has all this already been made public? Serious question. Would like to know thanks

Maybe Connolly should do as Paul Galvin suggests and switch Inter-county codes.

Joe was on terrace talk tonight saying that Dublin were the only team that can stop Kerry winning the allireland this year.

NUTS."
Nuts , how come ?

Was he not given extra for his awful disciplinary record?
Honest question.....I thought that's why extra was added, he had been sent off a few times that year already.

.. it rumbles on

A nothing incident has been turned into this circus

I don't know, very disheartening sort of crap and the whole affair is very off turning if I'm honest

Bit long in the tooth for this sort of soap opera crap

But sure on we go...

I am on record as being a big admirer of Connolly's and this Dublin team but I have to say I have an awful feeling he is going to get off & if he does it will be another nail in the coffin of Gaelic games for the simple reason that if officials are fair game then we won't have any in the near future.

It's a pretty thankless task as it is & I am sure there will be many referees, linesmen & umpires waiting on the appeal result with interest.

Nothing against Connolly or Dublin, he won't even really be missed until the semi final, but I am really hoping against hope that the appeal is turned down.

Exactly, these things do tend to turn into a soap opera. Too many layers of appeal to start with. The sanction should be handed down with one appeal body to go to. Possibly a DRA style body as they seem to have the final say on everything anyway, why not just go directly to them and drop all the CCCCs committees? All could be wrapped up in a week or ten days instead of this ridiculous over and back we have now.

What do you mean you are a bit long in the tooth for this sort of crap ? This isn't affecting your life, my life or anybody apart from the parties involved life. He is appealing, Itll drag on a bit more.. Don't see the big deal personally man

Ya I think it was to do with his bad discipline in fairness, he had got sent of against cork in PUR in the league and it was his second dismissal within a few months when he got sent off against Clare.

It was a total circus that year and didn't do us any favours later in the championship.

Bit ironic that Brolly, who constantly bemoans elitism in the gaa, should write a full article on Connolly and not mention Comerford.
