Clare v Kerry

Clare needed that goal in the early second half to have any chance of winning this. In the second half it looked like Kerry had the extra player and their point taking was first class against the breeze. Clare simply hadnt the same fire power up front.

I fully agree with you there. When Clare hit the crossbar, the ball somehow didn't go over the bar but wide over the end line, ye had no luck on that shot. The confidence and momentum was there until the shot. Clare reverted to slow lateral passing afterwards allowing Kerry to regroup for Clare attacks. They will learn from it and I hope to see Clare make the business end of the championship in August again.

Yes if that ball was just an inch lower, it would have been a green flag and who knows what way the game would have gone. Thank goodness for us it smacked the cross bar.

Kerry, as usual, were slow to get off the mark in their first game and their performance in the first half was poor enough now. But they showed good character grit and cuteness in the second period to ratchet up the tempo. As you said above we just had a bit too much class up front.

Now the half forward line we started wouldn't be winning you an All-Ireland IMO and how Barry John is still getting chances to start is beyond any of us down here but hopefully Stephen O'Brien did enough to usurp him.

As for Clare, well it's just a pity they drew us instead of Cork, because I've no doubt they would be in a Munster final if it was the rebels they had played this weekend.

As Kingdomboy said, they have an excellent midfield and some handy forwards and if they can put the disappointment of yesterday behind them they could make Croke Park again this year. Any team traveling to Ennis this summer is going to be really up against it.

Actually I'd be intrigued to see how Mayo would fare down there against them!

Anyway happy that Kerry came out the right side of a good stiff battle it will hopefully stand to them in the Munster final.
