Donegal V Tyrone

Looking forward to this game should be a good battle.
Will be interesting to see how well the young guns in the Donegal panel that looked very good in the league fare up against a a Tyrone team that are expected to be challenging at the end of August

Id say we will fare up well. The question is will we fare up against their runners. This could be a ding dong battle. It will come down to who takes one big chance in the game. That is the reality of it.

Why do we always have to play Donegal??

I am sick of it. Every year we seem to have to play them at some stage.

Ridiculous!

To be the best in Ulster you have to beat the best team ;)

That is funny and probably not that far from the truth, both teams retreating to their own 45 meter line hoping for a turnover and the opposition trying to charge through them. It would be refreshing if one of the teams tried something different but I can't see it. As Eamonn Dunphy once said after watching a poor soccer match, if it's entertainment you want, go to the cinema.

I still think it will be a good enough game as both sides have some quality players. But I can't see it being a free-flowing scorefest.

WTF did I just watch. Lol. Funny, it doesn't look unlike a typical Tyrone/Donegal game.

I think the league match was very important for our young players, less important for the Tyrone boys obviously. But our players should take a lot of confidence from that performance and it's all about whether they can replicate it and handle the step up that the championship version of Tyrone will bring to the table.

We are more open than in years gone by so it's whether we can penetrate the Tyrone defence for goals and be patient with our score-taking and taking the right option as well. The new lads have ran themselves into the ground for Donegal so far this year so I'd be confident that come the closing stages the game will be in the melting pot, and then it's just down to whoever can take their chances to win it.

Donegal for me, Tyrone are trying to flog a dead horse by keeping with the ultra defensive system where every other county (including Donegal) have evolved.

What a shock royaldunne getting boot into the red hand lads - it's now death taxes and royaldunnes attitude to Tyrone that are the certainties of life!

Donegal are about 300% a better team than Derry; some good new players integrating well. I remember when they beat us a few years ago in Ballybofey, I thought I had rarely seen better counter-attacking play. Obviously, Donegal got no credit for it in the papers the next day; just the usual whinging. You'd guess this time it will be close, low-scoring and enjoyably-tense throughout; though the "kick possession away in the name of entertainment" clowns will be coming out with the usual crap regardless.

I really don't get this opinion that people have that Tyrone are more defensive than all the other blanket/counter attacking teams out there.

I think Tyrone play the same type of system as most other teams these days but they are just not able to put the ball over the bar or in the nett.

Like we constantly rack up scores in the high teens and usually have 10-15 wides per game which would lead you to believe that we actually attack an awful lot.

I think if we had a couple of real quality forwards then the attitude to our system would change immensely.

Tyrone are only defensive against Dublin really.

Ha, it's not just ourselves then! Faced with a blanket defence and lads decide to turn and recycle possession through the hands and you always get a few "ah just kick it inside ffs!"

Much rather see the team try and work an opening!
