Galway vs Dublin (Hurling)

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Apart from the first night against Tipp, Dublin were very competitive in the league. It's easy to talk about who they're missing but with most of the Cuala contingent back with the squad & a lot of young talent coming through surely they won't be too far off the pace? Any reports on recent form in challenge matches?

That may be true re Dublins performances they will certainly go out and probably surprise us but enough to shock us I'm afraid. We need a younger manager prepared to take the underage players and build, in the modern game experience is way way over rated.

Replying To witnof:  "Straight after last night's match I said we would get Tipp in the qualifiers after we lose to Galway.

We needed to change management last year, unfortunately we are hemorrhaging players, to the footballers and just out of the squad. Not a happy camp.

We have the ability to win an All-Ilreland but not the sqaud spirit nor the menality yet. We will make every Leinster Final in both codes except for the Senior Hurling :("
Minor hurling?

The Cuala contingent has decreased in size though with the 2 Schutte brothers opting out, both of them will be a massive loss. Colm Cronin also opted out not so long ago. COC, 2 x Treacy brothers, Gough and Darragh O'Connell is all that's left of them I think unless I'm leaving someone else out?

Sean Treacy is not on the Dublin hurling panel, only David

When did he leave the panel because he was definitely on it last year? Haven't heard any mention of him departing the panel.

Not a bad looking Dublin team considering all the upheaval. Galway to win though, great to see Conor Cooney back.

So the quest for Liam begins again. Dublin have always been a thorn in our side over the last few years and I doubt anything will change on Sunday. Our form is good though so hopefully we get the job done with a bt to spare. Could be close though.

Dublin county board should have taken this situation in hand long before now. After all the work done on Dublin hurling we are now in a situation where a sizeable portion of our hurlers do not want to play for the county with the current set up. Its all well and good saying we wont get rid of any management but the situation has been let go to crisis point.

All this Dublin negativity unnerves me as championship hurling is very unpredictable, Dublin are been written off completely and that's when they can produce a performance with no pressure and they'll come in under the radar which is always an advantage to have just look at Cork last weekend.

"On current form" yes Galway look the safer bet, the first 20 minutes will tell a lot as to how this game will pan out, I'd expect Dublin to come at us hard from start but hopefully our new found "maturity" can weather the storm but that's never a given.

The prize on offer is huge!! A gateway to the Leinster final provided Galway/Dublin can over come the semi-final and a provincial decider offers hurling at least until the end of July or early August into the All-ireland series so this game could define either teams year but as we seen last weekend the hurling landscape can change dramatically after 70 minutes.

Here's hoping for a good entertaining game!

4 times we've been in on goal and only taken one , if we finished half of our chances we'd be in front here.

Coulda, woulda, shoulda, Clondakin; some terrible wides from Dublin all right, but Galway defenders putting ye're forwards under great pressure forcing them into wild shots. All to play for in the middle of the field.

Unless this game changes completely it'll definitely cool off some of the talk about Galway's chances this year since the league final.

Ah I know Galway way better I'm not going to lose sleep but Jesus that's shocking shooting from us. Hopefully Galway go on and win it out.

Big fan of Barry Kelly but he hasn't been fair on Dublin today. Pulling Dublin up for over carrying and canning getting away with the same repeatedly.galway better team but the score should be closer. Great performance by Dillon. Roasting both Tuohy and Burke

Some poor missed chances alright but let's be honest, Dublin don't really deserve to be level

Game over now.. that was a free in and then to see that poxy Galway dope goading him, all while winning well. Then Galway come down and get a goal!

Hope they win nothing this year after that sort of carry on..

Unfortunately for GC that's it for him. Ludicrous amount of much needed players refusing to play under him.. he's had his time, this is a bad day for Dublin hurling

Best we can hope for is to build a bit of momentum with some lucky draws through the back door but that's all for 2017

As for 2018 - Sorry Ger, but new manager needed with fresh ideas, attract the players back into the panel and we've plenty of decent young lads to build a team, we've had good underage success and Cuala are AI champs, there are talented players that the right man can turn into a competitive team, what we're currently witnessing is not the true reflection of Dub hurling, this is a malfunctioning setup that needs replacing and missing too many players that have walked.
