Yeah there is a big carrot there for both ourselves and Carlow as for one the summer will come to an end before it really beings this Saturday while for the other they know that they are a step closer to the AI Quarters - albeit still a further 3 steps/wins away. But look , whoever wins will have it tough in the Qualifiers Preliminary round.

As to who will win this weekend - close your eyes and take your pick!

Yes, on June 24th the game is to be played. A good move, glad to see it brought in. Hopefully there are 3 good games in Dublin this weekend to showcase the weaker counties first though.

It's a great move to include the CR winners. It's all down to politics. Kerry asked for that years ago and were rebuffed. Antrim ask for it and it gets approved.

Kerry who finished 3rd in the qualifier group might feel they along with the CR winner shou be included in the All-Ireland qualifiers. Kerry don't have the influence of Antrim to make that happen.

The provincial group stage if approved will change everything again. The conundrum is going to be integrating the qualifier group counties with the provincial group stage.

So it looks like this will only happen this year. The new proposals for the hurling championship scheduled to come into effect for 2018 don't allow for the Ring champs to play in that years AI series.

Never knew I had such influence.

I should have asked for more !

Great to see it happen and it makes Saturdays match even more important.
