Bernard Flynn's comments on refs

He's half right as in the referees for the big games are terrible.

I wouldn't have noticed much of a Dublin bias just all round bad refereeing.

The referee for Tipp Vs Louth yesterday was brilliant. He'll probably remain at that level cos he didn't dish out a few harsh black cards that the assessor in the stand will mark down his performance over.

I like the "spirit" of the Meath men on this topic. It is good to have self belief. But Meath must get out of division 2 first. It is only when they are in division 1 can they be taken seriously. Kildare are ahead of them at the moment, with Wexford and Westmeath on the same level. Dubs way out in front.

Yes we are no near the level of Kildare and Galway. Even tough we beat Galway a few weeks ago. Yes we are a only a div 3 team at best, down with the new promoted Wexford and Westmeath ?? There is a man that knows his football. LOL.

Kildare are always a bit overhyped while when Meath even win All Ireland their achievements are undervalued. Kildare have not beaten Dublin in nearly twenty years in the championship. Meath defeated Dublin 7 years ago. Kildare have only beaten Dublin in 1 leinster final in 90 years. Meath have beaten Dublin in 10 leinster finals in the same period. Kildare have played in 1 leinster final in the last ten years. Meath have played in 4 leinster finals in the last 7 years.

Since 2005 Meath and Kildare have between them been leinster seconds best team. Westmeath probaly deserve that title in the last 2 years with 2 final appearances. But theirl eague form has been very erratic to say the least. To say who is the second best team leinster is like saying who is the second best team in Scottish football. But I'd say between 07 -10 Meath were second best. Then from 10-12 Kildare were second best. Then from 13-14 Meath were second best. 2015 and 2016 Westmeath deserve the title .
At the end of leinster campaign this year then we will have better idea where counties stand. Westmeath have a young team. With a class act like Heaslin. Louth have really turned it around and are firing on all cylinder again. Very dangerous opposition for us in the first round. As they are due a victory over us. And when Louth play Meath and when Louth are strong they play out of their skins and like 15 all stars.
Kildare have some excollect young talent eg Doyle Kelly Flynn McCormack. And getting back to Division 1 would look like they have gone ahead of Meath. But that can only be decided after the championship. Remeber last spring Roscommon had a great league and we know what has happened since. Meath have won the last two championship matchs v Kildare and both times Kildare were strong favourites. Being underdogs will suit Meath. Even though Kildare hammered Meath in the first game . But this was McEntee first game. And Meath will be up and down this year. It will take a year for McEntee to sort things out . It took Walsh 3 years to get Galway into Division 1. While the Meath team that played Kildare in the first game was an experimental Meath team. O'Rourke D Toibin ,Harnan , Wallace ,McEntee, McMahon, Toher , Newnan and S Toibin were all missing . The team that played Clare had 7 changes to the team that played v Kildare. Kildare pretty much played their first 15 v Meath.
But Kildare and Louth are very tough opposition for Meath. Two of the form teams in the country. While both Kildare and louth always throw the kitchen sink against the Meath. They always up their game v us. BUtd if we can play like we did in our last few league match. I would be confident against both teams and would love a crack against an aging Dublin team in the final . A Dublin team who do have the oldest set of players in the country.

I think leinster will be much more competition in the next five years with young Meath Kildare and Westmeath teams. And rejuvenated Wexford and Louth teams. I can see Kildare winning a leinster title or 2 with the best young players ever. But their problem is Dublin. They have had a mental barrier with Dublin for decades. Meath are still the team most likely to beat Dublin next. Interesting times ahead in leinster.

That's why if/when Steo goes up to lift 5 in a row, savour it, because the same culchies will have flicked over to watch Coronation street with steam coming out of their ears at that point

I'd rather watch a DVD of the 2010 All-Ireland (Tipp 4-17 Kilkenny 1-18), painful as it would be; then watch Coronation Street
