Wexford hurlers

Replying To Condorman:  "I was very impressed with Wexford last Sunday. Its no mean feat to beat Kilkenny in a knock out game in Nowlan.
I would give them a fighting chance against Tipp the next day.
All that said are they at 'full steam' already? They trained 26 days in January apparently and they seem fitter than any one else."
Physically, they look in great shape. They've the hurling to back it up too now. Confidence would've always been fragile against Kilkenny but they were fearless on Sunday. Davy knows how important momentum is to a team but I'd be fairly confident he's well aware of the peaks & troughs involved too.

Element of surprise is probably gone alright, but replaced with a confidence, gameplan and above all excitement which we've not had in recent years.
Isn't it great that we are now starting to be talked about as potential Leinster champions? While I doubt it will happen (I still put Galway and Kilkenny ahead of us and a full Dublin team on par with us), it has really given hurling in the county a huge lift.

On a tough weekend for Dublin let me say well done to Wexford, love watching McDonald and as promoted will get to see a lot more of him , most myself included didn't see that result coming great shot in the arm for the county keep it up

Damothedub, I hated seeing the Dubs go down, with a new manager and a full strength team with everybody involved, there is no doubt they will be back up this time next year.

No doubt? Galway and (I hope with good management and young players further developed) limerick have something to say about that..

Well OK no doubt is probably wrong, but in fairness, many have been down and up while Limerick and Wexford were trying to get out of this division!
And sure Limerick are concentrating on the championship next year anyway!

Not quite as simple as that. The first year LK were down they actually beat Clare in Ennis when both teams felt 'they were playing for promotion'.
They also beat Dublin in the league proper in Croke Park, and won all their round robin games. only to lose by a point in thurles in a play off. Dublin got an opportunity at redemption LK did not get two years they were narrowly beaten by Clare. We had the ridiculous situation where there was no play off at the top of Div 1b but we had Cork winning one at the bottom of IA, despite being pointless in the League itself
All that would not have mattered this year as we finished third anyway and I wish Wexford continued success after their deserved promotion.
Overall I think the fact that so many very good hurlers opt for football will always mitigate against Dublin as football teams in Limerick will always play second fiddle to hurling.
