The posts on this thread are getting more ridiculous by the day. Donegal and Mayo have a great rivalry in recent years but no more so than with any of the top sides. Most Donegal people I know were supporting Mayo in last years All-Ireland final.

The match got a bit out of hand last weekend but I have seen much worse. Time for both counties to move on and concentrate on the championship.

I took part in a few slagging comments myself over and back on this thread but that's a long way from 'absolutely despising' Mayo. Both counties have a lot in common as large, western, rural, Gaeltacht counties. We both know the realities of emigration all too well. My father worked with hundreds of Mayo men in construction down the years in the UK and has the craic with many. Any rivalry stems from the fact that both teams have been in the top tier for the past number of years and have played some high profile games. I wanted Mayo to win Sam any time they got into a final other than in 2012 these past few years! And would do again if Donegal aren't there.

Replying To Lifford Gael:  "Curlew66,

Would doubt very much that Donegal shout for Mayo in All Ireland Finals. May have been the case of old but Mayo would be despised up here generally, and in the main due to the constant moaning by their supporters over the 2012 final where it is generally accepted they were a beaten docket after 10 minutes. The carry on of their supportersin subsequent games against Donegal certainly didn't endear them to Donegal supporters either. I know hate is a very strong word but any genuine Donegal fans I know absolutely detest Mayo and their supporters with a passion."
Must be terrible to be so bitter. Up Donegal !

Aiden followed him up the sideline and got at least 2 raps for his trouble's and got another puk off a Donegal player too and who was the first man to get called over for a yellow, yes it was Aiden, oh and he took that kick in the crown jewel's which is why he went down so easily."
Would you mind linking this?

I saw the video. If you are going to point fingers at Murphy or any other Donegal lads, have a good look at your no 15. Also, Eoin McHugh was doing very little wrong and got the shirt tore off him by Aidan Oshea. This was all before the elbow, the 4 yellows and the red. Just saying that it takes two to make a row. I am not defending any of our lads, nor should you your team either.

To be completely honest, I couldn't agree more. I've been to nearly all of Mayo's games in recent times and cannot understand why our supporters are so bitter. Would like to see both sides getting along but that will not happen until we start acting our age. Up Mayo
