NFL 3: Cavan come good in second half

Cavan produced a dominant second half display to ease their NFL Division 3 relegation worries and the pressure on manager Tommy Carr at Kingspan Breffni Park last night.

Cavan 0-17
Wexford 0-12

After losing their last two games, the Breffnimen couldn't afford another loss against promotion-chasing Wexford. The home side led by 0-8 to 0-7 at half-time with Ronan Flanagan opening the scoring with a fisted point inside the first minute. Flanagan ended the first half with four points and was a constant threat. Free-taker Shane Roche kept Wexford in touch, while Pat Naughter was also on target for the visitors.

Two points from Cian Mackey and another from impressive midfielder David Givney on the restart put daylight between the sides from the first time, and Cavan grew in confidence after that. Mackey went on to score five points but Tommy Carr's men had to see out the closing minutes with 14 players after Brian Malone picked up his second yellow card.
