'Banty' says past results are irrelevant

Monaghan have a surprisingly good record against Dublin in the NFL, but their manager Seamus McEnaney believes previous results will mean nothing in Parnell Park tomorrow.

The Farney County have avoided defeat in their last three visits to the Donnycarney venue, winning by six points and seven points respectively in 1998 and 2006, and drawing in 2008. However, 'Banty' says supporters need only look at the Division 1 table to see the task facing Monaghan this weekend.

"It's fair to say that Dublin are the form team at the moment," he said as Pat Gilroy's occupy top spot in the division following three straight wins.

"In fairness to Pat Gilroy, he has transformed this Dublin team. I don't ever remember Dublin being six points from three National Football League games. No matter where Monaghan travel in the league, you are boxing at the top of your weight. But this group of boys are very hungry for success, and we will be as difficult to beat as anybody."

He added: "I know that this is going to be a very difficult task for us, because of the high that Dublin are on and the venue - Dublin love playing in Parnell Park and are very, very difficult to beat there."
