"Was it something I said?" - Gooch and Brolly meet face to face on Sunday Game duty

July 16, 2017

The Sunday Game presenter Michael Lyster with panellists Colm O'Rourke, Colm Cooper and Joe Brolly.

Colm Cooper and Joe Brolly are sitting beside each other in 'The Sunday Game' studio today and the pair are getting on like a house on fire.

When the Kingdom legend announced his retirement from the inter-county scene earlier this year, Brolly came under fire after expressing his opinion that Gooch wasn't a warrior in the same mould as Peter Canavan or Colm O'Rourke, who also happens to be on punditry duty today.

"He didn't have that warrior spirit needed to turn games around when they are going against your team," Brolly wrote back in April.

At the time, the five-time All-Ireland winner retorted: "I certainly don't lie awake at night thinking about what Joe is going to say about me. In the earlier part of my career he thought I was a fantastic player. In the latter years he has changed a little bit."

Today the two men are running the rule over the Ulster and Leinster SFC finals for RTE and they've obviously put their past differences behind them (or have they?!)...

When Down's Darragh O'Hanlon's missed goal chance was the topic of discussion, Brolly was fulsome in his praise of Cooper's ruthlessness in similar situations...
