The late Liam Maguire The tragic death took place of Liam Maguire on 24 July, 2003. Liam was born in the 4th May 1960, at his family home in Forthill Park, Irvinestown, the only surviving son of John and Patsy Maguire. Liam was educated in St Pauls Primary School, Irvinestown and St Michael's Grammar School, Enniskillen he also attended St Mary's College in Irvinestown. At the age of 16 Liam joined his father John in the family business where they worked together as wholesaler confectioners until John's death on January 1997 after which Liam, a popular well known businessman, successfully ran the business up until the time of his death. In 1983 Liam married Gemma Goan from Enniskillen and the couple made their home in Irvinestown, where they had three children together. In his early years Liam enjoyed hunting and fishing with this father, many happy days were spent on Lough Erne and its many islands. A keen hurler, Liam played for Fermanagh minors, and was very proud to have played in Croke Park. In his later years Liam was a member of the Woodhill Clay Pigeon Club, a sport which he enthusiastically enjoyed. At a very young age Liam won medals in the Feis for singing, a talent for which he was very well known. A keen Elvis fan Liam could be relied upon to entertain his family and friends with renditions of "The Wonder of You" and many others besides. Liam was affectionately known as "Brownie" by his wide circle of very good and loyal friends, all of whom he entertained regularly at various parties and barbecues at his home. He was the life and soul of every party and will always be remembered as such. Testament to his popularity was the very large crowd which attended Liam's Requiem Mass on the 27th of July in The Scared Heart Church, Irvinestown. The mass was conducted by The Reverend Father Michael McGourty and the hymns were beautifully sung by Clare Morris who was assisted by the choir. Liam is survived by his wife Gemma, son Sean 19, daughters Kerry 16, and Caoilfhionn 11. He is also survived by his mother Patsy, his sister Jean (Kevin), Trillick, Ann, Kilskerry, his father-in-law, Danny Goan and all the Goan family, and his many nephews, nieces and grand-niece and a very wide family circle.
