The Late Seamus Callaghan People in Roslea have been struggling to come to terms with the sudden death of local postmaster Seamus Callaghan who is belived to have suffered a heart attack while playing indoor soccer with friends. The 41 year old father of four young children is belived to have suffered a heart attack during a game of five-aside at the Lakeland forum in Enniskillen. It was the second tragedy to hit the Callaghan family in recent months - Seamus's mother Sheila who was post-mistress in Roslea before her son took over 14 years ago, passed away in June of this year. Outside of Roslea, Seamus was best known as a footballer, serving as goalkeeper for the county and as a outfield player with Roslea Shamrocks. Accoring to local parish priest Fr Jeremiah McGrath, his sudden death came as a terrible blow to people in the area, not least because his position at the town's post office brought him into contact with so many. "There was terrible shock that someone so young had died suddenly leaving behind his wife and four wee children." he said. Fr McGrath described the deceased as a very efficient postmaster who would be especially missed by older people who used the post office. "Seamus came from a very respected family and he was the kind of man who if he was asked to do something he would have done it. He had real strength of character and was a great supporter of the parish and the football club." Local councillor Brian McCaffrey also spoke of the late Mr Callaghan's commitment to his community. "He was a person who if he took on a task he would give it 100 per cent. In his work he was very dedicated and very thorough, especially in his dealings with older people, advising them and looking after their interest. He was also very active on the mobile phone issue and would have committed himself to a lot of voluntary work," he said. Funeral Mass for Seamus Callaghan at St. Tierney's Church in Roslea was described as one the biggest in the district in recent years. Among those who attended were his many friends and colleagues in the GAA. A former manager of the Roslea Shamrocks seniors, Seamus had been in charge of the club's U12 team before his untimely death and a guard of honour from the club and the local primary school, St Tierney's was provided at the funeral. Seamus Callaghan is survived by his wife Bridget (nee Goodwin, Moan's Cross) and four sons Sean (10), Kevin (9), Aodhan (7) and Brendan (6). He also leaves his father Tommy, his sisters Margaret (Roslea), Cecilia (Scott, Roslea), Ursula (O'Donoghue, Roscommon) and Imelda (Callaghan-Dixon, London) and brother Damien ( Dublin ).
