Teresa O'Callaghan RIP

To the family of Teresa O'Callaghan, formerly Main Street, Belleek, who passed away last week, we extend our deepest sympathies. Teresa has been a Belleek woman for as long as I can remember, and that is a very long time. She was one of our oldest residents, who was a friend to everyone. For years her house was a meeting place for craic, watching television, talking about football, listening to Country music, there was no other sort of music, finding out news, and getting fresh milk for your tea, and along with late husband Gene they had the biggest family in Belleek, everyone was welcome, her door was never closed to anyone.

Teresa will be sadly missed by all who knew her; she was a lady of great dignity and friendliness, a heart of a lion, well you would need one when you rear a family of eleven.

Her family have, and were always and are still associated with the GAA in Belleek, in the 1960's her husband Gene was chairman, John, her oldest son was on the committee, causing mayhem, while the late Packie her 2nd son was an exceptional playing member on that team.

Then when the team came back into being in the early 1980's Eugene and Mickey were players on the team, and lately we have her grandson Nathan playing underage football. Teresa O'Callaghan had a massive influence in the Belleek football, grandson Patrick will always be remembered for his two goals in the Junior Final of 2001, coming on as substitute, turning the game round, then there was Eugene Jun, Gary and Sean, Stephen and Adrian, all grandchildren who have played for Belleek.

Belleek GAC would like to express their deepest sympathies to the O'Callaghan family on the death of their mother, Teresa, wife of the late Gene, to her sons John, Eugene, Michael, Joseph, daughters Josephine, Philomena, Frances, Patricia, Bernadette and the late Packie and Loretta.

A light has gone out in our community, which may never be seen again, may Jesus and his most Holy Family hold Teresa to his Most Sacred Heart.
