Former Donegal and Fermanagh manager Rory Gallagher has emerged as the favourite to fill the vacancy in Derry.

Monday was the closing date for nominations to replace Damien McErlain and BBC Sport NI is reporting that Gallagher – who brought the curtain down on his two-year involvement with his native county this summer – is now considered to be the front runner.

His name has also featured in speculation surrounding who will take over from Malachy O’Rourke in Monaghan.
