Ederney set to push on

September 12, 2018

Ederney manager Mickey Cassidy has stressed that they will not be going to Brewster Park at the end of the month just to make up the numbers.

Having guided his charges to their first county senior football championship final since 2006, Cassidy stressed to the Fermanagh Herald that their aim is to lift the New York Cup.

If they do so, it will be club’s first SFC since 1968, the only time they were ever crowned county champions in the club’s history.

Ederney now take on a Derrygonnelly outfit looking for their fourth consecutive title, but Cassidy believes his side can stop them.

“I don’t intend to take a team to Brewster Park to watch Derrygonnelly lifting a fourth trophy,” stated the Ederney manager.

“We’re going there to compete and it would be nice to win one 50 years since we won our last.”
