Byrne, Larry

November 30, 2004
The Late Larry Byrne The death took place, after a short illness, of former St. Flannans Harty Cup player, Larry Byrne. Dublin born Mr. Byrne lived in Ennis (Cusack Road) for a number of years and was particularly proud of his St. Flannans connections. In latter years he lived in Blackrock with his wife Imelda. Just a few weeks prrior to his death, he attended the annual St. Flannans past pupils golf outing in Dublin (Killeen club) on the day after the All-Ireland final where he made an impassioned plea to past pupils to support this event. He served as chairman of the St. Flannans past pupils union for a time. He was a leading member of the St. Flannans team which won the Harty and Croke Cup titles in 1946 while his brother Tommy also played for the famed Ennis school winning Munster and All-ireland honours also.
