Bernard Brogan at the Red Bull Cúl 5 launch
Red Bull Cúl 5 will take place on Saturday, May 25th in a purpose built arena in the distinctive surroundings of Dublin Port.
The event name 'Red Bull Cúl 5' tells its own story. 'Cúl', Irish for goal, refers to the fact that only goals can be scored. There are no points. '5' refers to 5 key rule changes, 5 players-a-side and each game lasting 5 minutes per half.
The competition will be played in a straight knockout format with games lasting 10 minutes. Red Bull Cúl 5 will also feature a number of rule changes, designed to promote a fast-paced & exciting game.
Red Bull athlete Bernard Brogan is looking forward to some high-energy action: "Red Bull Cúl 5 will be a fantastic competition. We've worked hard to create a challenging format. The ball will always be in play and players will need to be at their sharpest. I'm looking forward to seeing some top young players compete in this fresh and exciting event."
