Dublin's Dean Rock celebrates. INPHO
Super-sub Dean Rock left Croke Park yesterday with the praise of Dublin manager Jim Gavin ringing in his ears.
Introduced for the off-colour Bernard Brogan with 12 minutes to go, the son of Dublin legend Barney landed two late points to help the men from the capital to their first Allianz Football League Division 1 title in 20 years.
"It was no surprise to me that Dean kicked those scores," Gavin said.
"I've seen him up close with Ballymun Kickhams over the past year in all their 12 games and he's been one of their lynchpins. Obviously, I know from managing the U21s, I had three years with him, so it was no surprise to me."
