Castleknock Club notes

March 23, 2020

Reluctantly the Club had been left with no option but to close Somerton to all activity during the current restrictions. Our priority has to be a duty of care to our members and to the community at large and so we would ask everyone to adhere strictly to this closure.

With Somerton off-limits to training and skill challenges we invite all members to engage with our own Ciarán Kilkenny’s daily Skill Challenges online instead @CKKilkenny93 @CastleknockGAA @DubGAAOfficial and @gaelicplayers. Many thanks to Mary Kilkenny for showing the way. Other notable efforts are being posted on the Club facebook page @knockhfc.

Parents struggling to home educate or just entertain their children at home should refer to a post by Gerard McDermottroe, one of our senior footballers. Gerard, a Primary School teacher, has compiled an extensive list of what are invaluable sites, all of which will help parents to negotiate their way through these difficult times. Check it out on our facebook page @knockhfc.

The Club wants to play its part in supporting our elderly/vulnerable neighbours during this difficult period so we are looking for two groups of Volunteers, 1. to manage our Community Support Programme and 2. to deliver fliers around the community advertising our Community Support Programme. Contact 086-3782419/087-2456185 or [email protected] if you can help.

With our actual Clubhouse out of bounds we are once again resorting to our Virtual Clubhouses to keep in touch on a daily basis so a huge thankyou to Tony Nulty (Website); Ger Doyle (twitter) and Maria Bergin (facebook/Instagram) for all their work in this regard.

And remember lives are at stake so wash your hands and keep your social distance.
