Castleknock club notes

April 16, 2019

April 06 - U-8 Boys Hurling Blitz at Somerton and Collinstown – medals and goodie bags all round. Good opening round win in the Senior ‘B’ Hurling Championship – Castleknock 1-17 Thomas Davis 2-12 – match interrupted by Garda pursuit of lorry speeding through Somerton. Congrats to Senior footballer Tommy McDaniel on winning NFL Div.3 title with his native Westmeath to add to the O’Byrne Cup medal he won earlier in the year when Westmeath beat Dublin (including our own Shane Boland) in the Final.

April 07 - A late Castleknock point beats Erin’s Isle 0-13 0-12 in windy conditions in Finglas in the Junior Hurling ‘C’ Championship. In the afternoon Raheny proved much too strong for our Third team hurlers in the Junior Hurling ‘F’ Championship in Somerton 6-11 1-7. The Adult Camogie League Div.2 team produced a terrific display to beat Raheny 4-12 2-11.

Excellent League wins for both Minor Football league teams in Somerton. Div.1 Castleknock 5-17 Thomas Davis 2-14. Div.3 Castleknock 3-11 Templeogue Synge Street 1-7.

April 08 - Great turn-out for LGFA Referees Course. Plenty of future whistlers.

April 10 - Our sympathies go out to the families and friends of Michael Murphy, Monkstown, Co. Cork and Michael Lynch, Co. Kerry. Ár dheis Dé go raibh a anam. Féile teams received their tops – excitement mounting.

Big First Round win in the Senior Football Championship in bitterly cold Clondalkin. Castleknock 1-18 Ballinteer St. John’s 1-11 (Tommy McDaniel 0-7 Seamus O’Carroll 1-2).

League wins for our Ladies Football teams. The Senior team beat Clann Mhuire by 3 points and the ‘B’ team beat Whitehall 5-10 0-7.

April 11 – No Lotto Jackpot winner - €3,000 next week. €100 Winners – Aidan McGivern, Joe Murray, Ronan Murray. Order tickets from Lisa @086-1022296 before 9pm on May 11th for LSHC Dublin v Wexford in Parnell Park on Sunday May 19th at 3pm.

April 12 - The Contractor’s handover of the new Clubhouse took place today, a hugely significant event in Club history. Special thanks to the hard-working Committee who brought it about: Noel Dillon; Martina Finn; John Conway; Liam Ó Flannagáin and Niall Tutty.

April 13 – The Div.2 Féile Boys Hurling team beat Erin’s Isle (2-5 0-8), Kevin’s (4-5 1-4) and Naomh Barróg (3-4 1-3) to go through to the Div.2 Semi-Final in which they beat St. Sylvesters. In spite of beating Na Fianna our Div.5 side lose to Scoil Úi Chonaill, St. Mark’s and Westmanstown Gaels and so fail to make it to the knock-out stages.

Castleknock Ladies Football teams combine to play Australian Rules in great bonding exercise in DCU.

April 14th – Fabulous Féile success for our Div.2 Boys Hurling team beating Erin’s Isle 2-5 0-2 at Blakestown Road. Disappointing day for our Junior Footballers in the Championship’
