James Madden, who has been starring at centre forward for the Dublin 20 footballers of late, is being sought by a number of a Aussie Rules clubs, with the Brisbane Lions reported to be leading the race.

According to the AFL website, the Lions have already visited Madden and his family in Dublin, and have offered him a contract to join the likes of Pearce Hanley and Zach Tuohy in the AFL. Both Pearce and Cian Hanley were previously on the books of the Lions before Pearce moved to Gold Coast and Cian returned to Mayo.

If Madden decides to embark on a career in Aussie Rules, he will follow in the footsteps of the late Jim Stynes, who also hailed form Ballyboden St. Enda's and won the 1991 Brownlow Medal and played 264 games for Melbourne.

Madden caught the eye of scouts at last December's European Combine and subsequently attended the annual AFL Academy in Florida along with Cork's Mark Keane and Derry's Anton Tohill, son of former Aussie Rules recruit and Derry's 1993 All-Ireland winning midfielder Anthony.
