East Down Under-14 'A' League
Carryduff Under-14 boys hosted neighbours Bredagh at Páirc Aodha Dhuibh to contest this local derby.
Carryduff welcomed back forward Lorcan McCaughey who started his full game for some 10 weeks or so after recovery from serious injury. It was great to see him back -he was on the score-sheet within four minutes. Bredagh, however, found the back of the Carryduff net a minute later.
A very promising move that began from Conor McLornan - who was having a great start at the back line along with Paddy Hynes - found Ronan Lavery and in turn Eoin Maguire. The pass to Lorcan McCaughey put him in for a goal to leave Carryduff a point ahead after 6 minutes.
Both teams kicked a number of wides. In the 8th minute, Lorcan McCaughey added another point and Dylan Stronge was very unlucky after bursting through the Bredagh defence only to see his shot coming off the top of the crossbar.
A Carryduff substitute was then introduced - Conor McLornan was forced to retire with an ankle injury - David Hilland came on. Both teams exchanged points from the 9th minute until the 18th minute, Conor Campbell and Ryan Tweedy scoring for Carryduff.
Bredagh registered a goal and a point and with before Carryduff midfielder Simon Henry (who had a superb first half dominating the middle of the park) scored a nice point to leave the half time score at Carryduff 1-06 Bredagh 2-04.

A hailstone shower greeted the opening of the second half. Carryduff had a point 35 minutes in when Ryan Tweedy converted a free. Bredagh replied with a point which was to be their last score of the match. For the following ten minutes both teams failed to score.
In the 46th minute Daniel Coogan collected a great pass from his midfield partner Simon Henry. He then found Ryan Tweedy who put the ball to the Bredagh net.
Lorcan McCaughey, top scorer in tonight's match, registered another point to take his tally 1-03. Rory Reilly and Simon Henry added further points. The final eight minutes of play saw no further scores.
Eventual winners Carryduff went to the top of the league table as Bredagh dropped to 3rd place on the table. Carryduff's next match is a home fixture against Saul (this is a reversed fixture).

Carryduff Thirds enjoyed an emphatic victory over Dundrum in Páirc Aodha Dhuibh. Andy Moorehead had pointed and found the net for the home team before the visitors managed their first score. A second Carryduff goal from Darragh Brownlee established the home sides superiority and further points from Rory McGrath and Moorehead confirmed it as Dundrum were held to only two further points across the thirty minutes. Carryduff greeted the break with a ten point advantage 2-07 to 0-03.
Dundrum's woes grew as Carryduff keeper Smyth pulled off a superb save at point blank range diverting the ball over the crossbar. Carryduff then effectively ran riotPoints from Niall McArdle and Conor McCarroll were followed by a three goal blitz as Brownlee, Cormac McCrory and substitute Conor Rooney all found the Dundrun net. All-County Under-16 Football League 30 May 2013 Carryduff - v - Burren
Carryduff and Burren played out a very competitive and entertaining League fixture at Páirc Aodha Dhuibh. The teams were level at the break and in a game that either team could have won with very few opportunities missed by either team the draw was a fair result. The game ended with the teams sharing the league points having registered 1-11- apiece.
Burren had six points, one each from Declan Murdock, Shea Murdock, Shane McCartan, Turlough Byrne, Pearse Kelly and Ronan Fegan. Carryduff's points were from Jack Doherty, Ronan Beatty and Nicholas Turkington and their goal courtesy of Daniel Guinness. In the second half Carryduff got off to the brighter start and had three points in the third quarter, two from Turkington and one from Daniel Guiness as Burren's only score in this period came from a Declan Murdock conversion. Carryduff were to rue the four wides they kicked during this period. Burren clawed back a further point from Shea Murdock before Shane McCartan's 43rd minute goal put them into the lead. In a riveting finish Turkington converted a free (47th) for Carryduff and Beatty pointed from play but John McKernan pointed Burren ahead again. Shane McCartan's 52nd minute point put them two ahead but some good work won a Carryduff free which Turkington converted (55th) and Darragh Connolly's 56th minute point levelled the game again. Declan Murdock put Burren into the slenderest of leads 58 minutes in but Connolly's last minute point for Carryduff ensured a share of the spoils.

Carryduff enjoyed an impressive 5-11 to 2-05 victory over Kilcoo when the side met at Páirc Aodha Dhuibh to contest this Premier Reserve Division II fixture. A first minute goal from Niall McArdle was followed by points from Andy Moorehead Michael Graham and Ronan McLaughlin before Kilcoo got their first score from a converted free. Peter Lavery added another for Carryduff (19th) before Kilcoo claimed a goal in the 21st minute and another point in the 22nd. Andy Moorehead's 26th minute point put Carryduff eight points ahead but a second Kilcoo goal in the 28th minute brought them to within five points of Carryduff and it looked as if the second half could be more keenly contested.
The contest didn't emerge. Carryduff contained Kilcoo to a solitary point in the second half and only two wides. A miserly Carryduff defence snuffed out any real threat from the visitors and Ronan Lawlor, Michael McGrath (2 points) and Andy Moorehead all added points to boost Carryduff's advantage. Two further goals from Michael McGrath (40th) and Ronan McLaughlin ( 42nd) killed the game off And Carryduff shots a few wide before Ben Fitzsimons 55th minute point brought the scoring to a conclusion and a Carryduff victory on a 5-11 to 2-05 Scoreline.

Under-14 Hurling
Carryduff Under-14 hurlers put in a much improved performance in Saturday's league game at Pairc Aodha Dhuibh against Portaferry, losing by four points in a good competitive game. In the opening league game this season, the Carryduff boys suffered a heavy defeat in Portaferry, so the much closer score-line shows the huge improvement the boys have made.

Carryduff opened the scoring with a point from Lorcan McCaughey, but Portaferry responded with a goal and two points.  Rory Oakes then pointed for Carryduff, but a second Portaferry goal stretched their lead to six.  The Carryduff attack pushed forward, and as Lorcan McCaughey burst through he was fouled as he struck the slíothar.  Despite the ball hitting the back of the net, the referee awarded a 13m free, which was converted.  Shortly afterwards, the same player found himself in the same circumstance, and this time the referee allowed the advantage and the Carryduff goal stood.  Rory Oakes followed up with another point to reduce the Portaferry lead to a single point.  Portaferry reacted well to this pressure and finished the half strongly adding a goal and three points to leave the half-time score at Carryduff 1-04 to Portaferry 3-05.

The second half saw Carryduff trying to reduce the Portaferry lead with points from Lorcan McCaughey and Gerald Toal.  Portaferry struggled to get scores, and a goal mid-way through the half proved to be their only score in the second half.  Carryduff had repeated attacks on the Portaferry goal, and the Portaferry goalkeeper pulled off some great saves. Lorcan McCaughey added another goal to the Carryduff total, and converted a 65 metre free to leave the final score at Carryduff 2-07 to Portaferry 4-05

The Carryduff team was :- Conor McLornan, Frank McWilliams, Rory Kerr, Peter Andrews, Eoin Maguire, Luke Collins, Ciaran Sherry, Lorcan McCaughey, Eoin Maguire, Rory Oakes, Gerald Toal, Niall Dynan, Charlie Bridges, Tiarnan McBay, Breandan McGreevy.
