Ballymartin GAC Club Notes
May 20, 2013
Congratulations to the Benji Ward and the Down Senior Ladies team who won LGFA "Tesco Homegrown" NFL Final last Saturday 11th May in Parnell Park, Dublin, when the Down Ladies won by a point, 2-06 vs. 0-11 Armagh. Congratulations to Ballymartin's, Lauren Cunningham (2 points) and Sinead Brannigan.
* Seniors this Friday 24 May, make the trip to Carryduff for a 7:30 PM throw-in.
* Reserves match was called off last week due to members playing in the Down Golf Classic. This Sunday 26 may, the Reserves are away to Saval for a 6:00pm throw-in. The lads will be looking to right the wrongs of their first match of the season when they faltered at the last ten minutes, allowing Saval the victory. Ronan and Sean will have their work cut out for them. Good luck lads.
* Minors matches are postponed due to exams and Baileghlas' next match is Saturday 8 June in Glasdrumman against An Ríocht
* U-16 next match is on 13 June at home to Kilclief.
* U-14 lads played a hard match against Longstone last week with a gruelling wind being the deciding factor of the match. Baileghlas led the first half by 12 points. This was turned upside-down during the second half, when the strong wind and Longstone forwards kept the ball around the Baileghlas goal line. On Monday past the lads went Clann Na Derg . Tomorrow night (Thu 23) Baileghlas take on Saval at 7:30 PM, in St Colman's Kilkeel, Referee: Michael O Rourke.
* The U-12s lads had a resounding result last Sunday when they travelled to Drumgath and held them to Drumgath 1-02 vs. 5-08 Baileghlas. This Sunday they will be hosting Mitchels in Glassdrumman @ 11:00Am Referee: Ronan Mc Alinden.
* The U-10's have now had three matches under their belt in the Mourne League. With each game, improvement can be seen and some of these players are now coming of age. The first game of the season was against Glassdrumman, and with a few players short and still a bit rusty, the game was over by half time, but these young players still tried very hard. Game two was against the Stone and a massive all round improvement was evident from the previous week, but just fell short of stamina in the later stages of the match. The coaches were delighted the way they played throughout this game. Last week was against Atticall and a hard fought and sporting game was played in St Colmans. Unfortunately, the result went against us but some great performances stood out. Daniel McAlinden who has been this year's find in goals, excelled along with Amy Higgins, Nadine Eakins and Cormac Greene standing out in particular. The coaches would like to commend the determination and effort these young children give each week in a difficult league, yet play with a smile on their faces. Coaching each Friday at Carrigenagh Rd at 6.25pm sharp.
* Intermediate Ladies host Teconnaught on Saturday 25-May in An Riocht with a 7:00PM throw-in.
* U-16 Ladies had a great win on Sunday against a young Annaclone team. An excellent team performance by all and great commitment, and well done to Fiona on her penalty save. The final score Annaclone 2-06 vs. 7-15 Ballymartin.
* The U-14 Ladies game has been rearranged, for Tuesday the 28th of May at home in St Colmans at 6:45pm. Coaching as usual.
* Lotto Numbers for Sunday 19 May 2013; 2, 15, 22, 30. No Jackpot Winners - Next week's Jackpot now stands @ £12,000. One Person matched 3 numbers, congratulation to Kelli Murphy. This Sunday 26 May Lotto ROTA Team Y. Fitzpatrick.
