Glasdrumman GAC Notes

May 19, 2013
After losing the previous week by 1 point to Attical, the U10's picked up a brilliant point on their travels to An Riocht on Monday May 13th. With a strong win behind them, Glasdrumman had the upper hand and played some excellent football and went in leading by 6 points at half time. It was expected to be one way traffic in the second half with An Riocht having the strong wind behind them this time, but Glasdrumman had other ideas. Although the home team got the first score of the second half, Glasdrumman shocked them with 2 well taken goals. The home team made a few changes and with Glasdrumman starting to tire, An Riocht rattled in the goals to leave the game level. Both teams were really going for it and another Glasdrumman goal looked to have won it, but An Riocht snatched a draw with a last minute goal. What an excellent game of football that was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The Glasdrumman team on the day were: Peter Doran, Jack McVeigh, Darragh Rooney, Aine Trimble, Eoin McVeigh, Martin Stevenson, Sean Kelly, Paul Kearney and Cormac McComb.
In the B match Aoife McComb, Nathan Brennan, Cáolam Smith, Ollie Thompson, George Thompson, Sé Rooney, Niall and Ryan McCartan all put in good performances in another entertaining game.
There will be no underage training on Sunday next as the Glasdrumman Fun Day will be taking place. All children taking part in the football challenge (P3 and below) to be at Glasdrumman pitch for 11.30 am Sunday.

Baileghlas under 12s made the journey to Drumgath on Sunday for their 2nd league game of the season. From the start this young team showed great displays of skill, this combined with excellent score taking and disciplined defending earned them a well deserved victory. Well done lads! Under 12 training continues tonight (wednesday) from 6.45 to 7.45 at the Quarter road pitch.

Glasdrumman Youth Club is holding a fun day this Sunday 26th May at the Quarter Road pitch. This promises to be a great day out for all the family. There will be a lot of laughs as the over 40's "elite team" take on the Baileghlas minors in a much anticipated "Tug of War". The chicken run will be decided and the winner announced. There will be a penalty shoot out with a difference, bouncy castle and slide, crazy golf, an under 6 football tournament and lots more. There will be a bbq and refreshments throughout the day. We can guarantee a full programme of fun events and it is surely a day out not to be missed. Glasdrumman AOH pipe band will lead the parade to the pitch at 12.30 and this is when the fun will begin. Everyone is welcome. For more information contact any youth committee member.
