Longstone GAC Notes
ACL I: Longstone 0-14 Saval 0-7
*On Friday evening Longstone recorded a valuable home win to move off the bottom of Division 1. The hosts coped better with the wet and dull conditions early on and led 6-1 by the 17th minute. The visitors halted the hosts scoring sequence with a point from Gavin Quinn two minutes later to reduce the deficit to four. However, three points from Michael Ireland, Ryan Kelly and Mark Poland put Longstone seven up, 0-9 to 0-2, which was the score at half-time. The second period was a more even affair. The teams scored five points apiece, but Saval didn't genuinely threaten their opponents total and never got closer than seven points to Longstone. Saval were awarded a penalty in the 8th minute of the second period, when the score was 12-3, but the shot was sent wide and the hosts were able to keep their opponents at arm's length for the remainder of the game.
