In the U14 Gaelic in Longstone, An Riocht lost a high scoring affair 10-14 to 5-16.

 

At the U14 Camogie Championship v Atticall, An Riocht won 6-0 to 4-4 and now play Kilcoo in the semi-final.

 

At the U8 Camogie in Killeavy, we played 3 x ten-minute games on their 3g pitch which was a first for the girls, everyone got game time and we have seen a few areas to work on. There will be more games in Louth and Armagh before the end of the summer.

 

At the U18 Camogie Championship Final in Clonduff, An Riocht won 11-22 to 0-2 over Castlewellan. Early direct ball paid dividends and livewire full forward Ciarrai Connor fired home a hat-trick of goals inside the first ten minutes. Castlewellan just could not get the ball out and with An Riocht captain Sophie Bowater giving a 'Player of the Match' performance, the Kingdom girls were dominant from start to finish. Aoife McDowell soloed through for a hat-trick while Shannagh Campbell shot home a couple from long range. Cerys Clarke was outstanding at centre half back and surged forward finishing with 1-5 to her name.

At the U18 Gaelic in Glenn, An Riocht won 6-11 to 2-6.

 

In the U12 Gaelic v Glenn, An Riocht lost 3-7 to 8-3.

 

In the U16 Gaelic v Warrenpoint, we lost 7-13 to 1-4; after the game Warrenpoint received the League Cup.

 

In the Senior Football Championship v Mayobridge, An Riocht lost 2-13 to 0-7, behind by 12 at the break, we drew the second half! Our next league match is home to Warrenpoint on 31st August. At the U12 Camogie in Mayobridge, An Riocht lost 5-3 to 2-0.

 

In the Junior Camogie Championship v Darragh Cross, Darragh were unable to field; An Riocht now play Kilclief in the semi-final.

 

At the U12 Gaelic in Saval, An Riocht lost 4-9 to 3-5.

 

In the Reserve Football Championship v Shamrocks, An Riocht were unable to field.

 

In the u8 Gaelic, Rostrevor had to postpone to another day.

The Patsy Conkey u12 and Sharon Morgan u16 Camogie tournaments will take place on Saturday 15th September alongside our annual Carmel Doran Memorial Cup for those who do not play competitive camogie; it is a seven a side 'social' tournament with some teams representing clubs & other teams made up by individuals joining together on the day to take part. The football equivalent, the JG Donnan Cup, will also take place on that date.

 

Keep Saturday 29th September free for a 'Night at the Races' in aid of club funds.

 

South Down GAA have released details of their u18 and u16 knock out cups; u18 - 14th August away v Bosco, 21st August home v Eire Og, 28th August home v Glenn & u16 - 16th August a bye, 23rd August away v Longstone, 30th August home v Rostrevor.

 

In the Summer Scheme, there were so many highlights this week including the kite making workshop, the lego builders' activity, the slip and slide and water fight and the trip to Tayto Park. Really looking forward to the 'Pirates and Mermaids' Summer Scheme through the medium of the Irish language this week.
