Doogan, Amy

March 30, 2003
The Late Amy Doogan The tragic death of 14 year old Amy Doogan in January of this year was this week remembered by teachers and her fellow students. What follows is an appreciation to the young life quenched so early. The evening of January 25th 2003 will forever be etched in our memories, when God called Amy Lou home at the tender age of just 14. For us, her life long friends a light went out that will never shine as brightly ever again. We are still trying to come to grips with God's mystery as to why He took her away. "Amy will always be remembers as someone who lived her short life to the fullest. Like any normal teenager Amy loved her music, especially Nirvanna and was so enthusiastic about her music lessons with "Ringo" in the Old School, Carrick. "Her other great passions were athletics, especially the shot putt and playing for Kilcar girls under 14 and 16. GAA football teams and supporting Manchester United. She also had a great love of art and drawing which would, we are sure, have played a huge part in her later life. "Amy took school very seriously and was busy studying for her mock Junior Certificate Examination. Her favourite subject was Home Economics taught by her favourite teacher, Mrs Mary Doherty. How often we remember her sitting patiently with us in the school cloakroom helping us with out homework! "Amy was fun, warm, gentle with a great sense of humour, but to us, her greatest attribute for one so young was her ability to listen and the number of times she stood patiently in the school corridor and listened to all out various problems and then offered advice, a smile or sympathy. "She had the uncanny ability to make us laugh and make us feel better about ourselves no matter how down we were at the time. She was our rock. "Amy you looked after us on Earth. Please carry on looking out for us in Heaven. What keeps us going is that one day we will all be reunited again and can carry on where we left off. As for your heart broken Mum and Dad, Pauline and Padraig, don't worry too much, we will look out for them and it's our turn now. "You always thought of those you loved, and those you loved remember". Your Friends. An appreciation Courtesy of Donegal Democrat March 2003
