Friel plays down league significance

April 12, 2013
Donegal minor manager Stephen Friel feels that the Ulster league 'doesn't matter'.

On Saturday, Donegal play their last game in the competition when they host Antrim at Sean MacCumhaill Park.

Friel is fully focused on getting his players right for the start of the Ulster championship and feels that the league is just a tool in their preparations.

"The reality is that the league doesn't really matter," Friel explained to the Donegal Democrat. "I know people say that is only said after losing, but it is the championship which counts and that is what we have been building at since the start of the year.

"It's about each week improving and getting better and peaking for May 26th and Tyrone in the championship, and that's what we have been doing since the Fermanagh game."
