Curran: McBrearty won't be distracted

Paddy McBrearty won't be distracted by the alleged biting incident in Ballybofey according to Donegal U21 manager Maxi Curran.

Curran will look to McBrearty to lead from the front in tonight's Ulster U21 FC final against Cavan in Enniskillen and is confident the All-Ireland senior winner will be 100% focused on the task in hand.

"Ah yeah, these things are a distraction all right but I don't think it will take away too much," Curran - who is also a member of Jim McGuinness' senior backroom team - told The Irish Daily Star.

"That was always the risk with the boys playing at the weekend. You were always running the danger that something was going to happen that was going to impact on things.

"Look, that was the way it turned out. Paddy, for a young man, he has played in a lot of big, big matches and probably if there's anybody in our group able to deal with it, it's Paddy.

"Paddy came in the year after the last (Ulster) U21 victory in 2010 so he is very hungry for the medal.

"He has achieved a lot at senior level but at underage level he has had a very barren time. This represents a great chance for him to win something at underage and I don't think his focus will be too badly affected."

Curran, meanwhile, rated Ryan McHugh's chances of playing as just "30/70" after scans revealed the senior panelist has a tear in his calf.
