It has been a number of seasons since Moville entered a team into the Northern Board U16 league. Moville's season got off to a good start on Sunday March 4th with a comprehensive victory over Naomh Padraig, Lifford, away from home.
The conditions were heavy underfoot but despite that the Moville boys produced a great performance with a good spread of scorers. Ronan Doherty, Joshua Lafferty and Ciaran Diver scored 5 points between them in the first eight minutes before Diver added a goal on the ninth. This was followed up by points from both of the Conor Dohertys, Joshua Lafferty again; and a great point from Tony McClenaghan following a solo run up the middle of the park. Joshua scored a goal on the 21st minute and more points were racked up by Ronan Doherty, Conor Doherty and Ciaran Diver before Diver grabbed a goal on the stroke of half time to leave the score Moville 3-12 : Lifford 0-1 going into the break. Mark Browne was having a solid first half winning possession and getting the ball smoothly up the field.
Josh Lafferty scored another goal 2 minutes into he second half before being substituted after a great game for Mike McClenaghan on the 42nd minute. Conor Kelly added a brace of goals scoring on the 35th and the 39th minute, one each side of a goal by Conor Doherty. Both Conor Dohertys, and Ronan Doherty, added to their tally during the second half before Lifford had a period of heavy scoring; grabbing a goal and three points in quick succession around the forty minute mark. Alan Browne added a point from a free kick on the 44th minute after having a good match frustrating the opponent he was marking for the entire match. Conor Doherty added another goal on the 46th minute while Sean McClenaghan who had a solid game in defence came forward to score a point on the 54th minute, while Ciaran Diver finished off the scoring on the 49th minute with another goal. Final score Moville 9-17 : Lifford 1-4
