O'Neill Gerry

Late Gerry O' Neill

Very deeply regretted also was the recent death, which occurred in Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry, of the late Gerry O'Neill, late of Buncrana, and formerly Dungloe. He was only 53. Gerry spent many years working in the Dungloe Branch of the Bank of Ireland. During his time in Dungloe, he stayed on the Mill road and in Drumnacart. And it was while working in Dungloe that he met his wife, Winnie Ward of Tubberkeen, a daughter of James Teague and Caroline Ward. Gerry was always full of life and full of sparkle he was a great G.A.A. man and a great Celtic man to boot. He often teamed up with Celtic supporters from here on their way over to the big matches across the water. He was born in Newtownstewart. Co. Tyrone Mc Connell goalkeeping brothers. Gerry always supported Tyrone, irrespective of how long he had been living in Donegal. He often travelled to the big Donegal. He often travelled to the big Donegal - Tyrone games on a Donegal supporters bus from Dungloe and proudly wore the Tyrone Jersey when he did so. He was back in Dungloe not that long ago when attending the wake and Funeral of his late father - in law, the late James Teague Ward, late of Tubberkeen. He only retired in 2009. The deepest, heartfelt sympathy of the whole community is extended to all of the following on Gerry's death, his sorrowing wife and family, his wife, Winnie, daughters, Eimear and Ciara, son, Sean, and Adrian, sister, Bernadette, and family circle, brother - in law, Charlie Ward, Tubberkeen, and sisters - in - law, Brid, Bundoran, and Crona, Dublin, relatives and other in -laws, and G.A.A. colleagues, fellow Celtic supporters and Tyrone supporters, his bank colleagues and all of his many friends and acquaintances. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
