St Eunan's Letterkenny club notes

March 20, 2018

The U16 boys football Div. 1 team are back in action this Sunday with a home game against St. Mary's, Convoy. The Development (U15) team are free this Sunday but take on Glenfin at home on Wednesday, March 28th in a re-arranged game.

Minor and U14 Hurling gets underway this Thursday (March 22nd). The Minors are at home to Burt with the U14's travelling to Four Masters. Games throw-in at 6pm. The Minor game may be in some doubt with several players due to line out for St. Eunan's College in the McLarnon Cup Final replay on Friday night.

The adult football leagues get underway on Good Friday (March 30th) with our Seniors at home to neighbours Glenswilly (6pm) before they make the short journey to Milford on the Sunday for a meeting with Danny O'Donnell's Intermediate Championship winners. We are waiting on word of the Reserve fixtures.

Our Academies are up and running for 2018 and new members are always welcome to both academies. The Friday Evening Hurling & Camogie Academy is on between 6:30pm and 7:30pm each week with the younger groups taking place in the Aura and the older groups on the new Astro facility in O'Donnell Park, the Academy will take a short break after training on March 23rd and will resume on the grass in O'Donnell Park on Friday, April 13th. The Century Cinemas Sunday Morning Football Academy is on each week on the Astro pitch in O'Donnell Park with the U6, U7 and U8 (boys only) groups on between 11am and 12 noon and the U9 & U10 Boys and U8 and U10 Girls on between 12 noon and 1pm. They will take a break after training on March 25th and resume on the grass on Sunday, April 8th at 11am for all groups.

It's been a big week for local schools' teams. St. Eunan's College must meet Holy Trinity, Cookstown again after their Bank Holiday Monday McLarnon Cup Final ended in a draw in Armagh. Conor "Duck" O'Donnell got the College's 2nd goal in a game that ended 2-06 to 1-09. They will meet again this Friday night, March 23rd in Celtic Park and the St. Eunan's lads will start as favourites again.

Coláiste Ailigh will travel to Collooney in Sligo this Saturday to contest the All-Ireland Senior D Final for the first time in their short history when they take on St. Cuan's, Castleblakeney (Galway). Once again, our club has a strong representation on the team that has already had a fantastic season and Principal Micheál Ó Giobúin will be hoping that the lads can take the cup back up the road with them on Saturday evening.

The club is actively seeking Young Whistlers to get involved in refereeing our games. Training will be provided, and reffing games will involve beginning with Go Games (U8, U10 and U12). If you are 16 years old or over and want to get involved, please e-mail Minor Board secretary Paul McGovern at: [email protected].

All team managers are asked to e-mail their squad lists to Anne Forde asap so that she can let you know if any players still aren't registered: [email protected]
