The senior footballers are still searching for their first elusive win of the season after losing to Newbridge on Sunday past. The turning point in the match happened half way through the second half with Swatragh three points ahead, a good attacking opportunity was spurned and in the process Micky Kirkpatrick injured his right knee. Unable to continue Swatragh lost their most potent attacking threat as Micky's ability to secure pocession in such slippery conditions was remarkable. From that point on the O'Leary's half back line dominated the match as Nathan Rocks (0-06,5 frees) and Michael Bateson scored 0-07 without reply. A late pointed free by Conor McAtamney reduced the deficit to 3 points but the scoreline ended up 0-12 to 0-09 at the final whistle. It all looked so different 5 minutes before the interval as Swatragh had a four point lead playing against the breeze. An early Newbridge point was cancelled out by an excellent Conor McAtamney free. Three points from Kirk (2 frees) plus another from play by Conor left Swatragh 0-05 to 0-01 ahead. With Diarmuid Dillon excellent in the heart of the defence keeping Newbridge danger man Danny Mulholland quiet the Davitts were dominant. Newbrdige capitalised an a few handling errors to score the remaining two points of the half to leave two in it at the interval. Pointed frees from Kirk and Conor plus an over the shoulder effort from Seamey Friel had Swatragh 4 points ahead early in the second half. But unfortunately Swatragh could not capitalise on this advantage and next up is Dungiven at home this Friday at 7.30pm.

The U16 footballers got back to winning ways last Thursday night against Magherafelt at Davitt Park. The concession of an early goal appeared to rattle the boys as the Rossas tagged on a further 3 more points in response to a solitary John Walsh point to leave Magherafelt 5 points to the good. But from this point on to the end of the match there was only one team in it as Swatragh dominated all over the pitch. In fact Magherafelt could only muster one more point before the interval and in the second they didn't manage to register a wide nevermind a score. The Swatragh comeback was aided by goals from Mark Cassidy and Patrick Kearney plus a Seamus Gribbon point from play and a second over from John Walsh before the interval to leave Swatragh one point ahead. The introduction of Lorcan McWilliams and Niall Coyle added great impetus to the Davitts attack as their movement, decision making and work rate was excellent and culminated in both men picking off scores of their own. Fine points from play by Niall McAtamney and Patrick Kearney plus a scrappy goal helped Swatragh win out on a scoreline of 3-10 to 1-04.

The U14 hurlers gained revenge over Kevin Lynch's for the Feile semi final defeat by beating them on a scoreline of 2-08 to 3-04. The minor footballers recorded a victory over Owen Roes 3-13 to 0-06 away from home. The U16 hurlers lost to Ballinascreen 4-6 to 2-2 at McGlinchey Park on Sunday past.
