Derry hurling manager Ger Rogan has wiped the slate clean for the championship.
The Oak Leafers' league campaign didn't pan out according to plan but, as his side prepares to open its Christy Ring cup programme against Wicklow in Dungiven on Saturday afternoon, Rogan says it's time for a new beginning:
"Looking at where we both finished in the league means we will both want to finish the year on a high and a cup game is a cup game," the Derry manager notes in The Wicklow People.
"I'm looking forward to it but it's going to be a big ask.
"It's obviously hard to keep spirits up when we've taken beatings like the one against Laois but we have to look at the Ring cup as a fresh challenge, a clean slate and a target to reach.
"We are well aware of what Wicklow bring to the table and their progress in the last three of so years has been excellent.
"The fact that we've already beaten them this year means absolutely nothing at all. This game on Saturday is a different situation altogether and, if anything, they'll want to settle the score."
