The senior team faced hot favorites Coleraine in the quarter final on Saturday in Foreglen for their sixth championship game of the season. This was always going to be a formidable task for the senior squad. Coleraine went into a four point lead but Glen stuck to their task and midway through the half they drew level. Coleraine then got two goals and a couple of points while Glen managed one more point in the half leaving Coleraine ahead by a flattering seven points at half time. Glen had it all to do now as they were playing against a strong breeze in the second half. Coleraine were the stronger team and ran out winners on a score line Glen 0-10 Coleraine 3-14. On Tuesday evening the Under 14 Camogs took on Swatragh in the semi final of the championship with Glen having home advantage. The girls started slowly with Swatragh being first to register a score but once Glen settled into the game they soon put that to rights with a brace of scores from Sinead McDonald leaving Glen leading at half time Glen 4-3 Swatragh 1-1. The second half saw Glen increase their lead but then took the foot off the pedal and let Swatragh back into the game with them clawing back the deficit to only three points. This seemed to waken the Glen girls up and they got back into their stride. They went on to win by fifteen points on a score line of Glen 8-6 Swatragh 4-3. This meant they would face Bellaghy in the Championship final. Team & Scorers: Aimee Glasgow, Roisin McCabe, Bronagh McGuckin, Aoife McCloskey, Niamh Caskey, Jill O'Donnell, Clare McGroogan, Eimear McNicholl, Charlotte Burke (0-1), Ciara Mulholland, Niamh Gallagher (1-1), Caoimhe Mulholland, Nuala McCusker, Sinead McDonald (5-3), Mary McIvor (2-0) Subs used Orla Higgins (0-1).

On Swatragh on Sunday afternoon was the championship final. This was the first final Glen has contested in a few years and the team carried with them the hopes of the entire club. During the first half the girls found it difficult to settle, nerves playing a big part. Glen did manage to go in at half time a point to the good, Glen 0-4 Bellaghy 0-3. As has been the pattern in most of our games this year the team really stepped up in the second half and gave a great display of skill, heart and determination. Every girl gave off their best and they ran out deserved winners on an impressive scoreline of Glen 2-9 Bellaghy 0-4. This was a great team performance and one that all concerned with the team can be very proud of. Congratulations to the players and managers on a job well done, special congratulations to Eimear McNicholl who was awarded player of the final. Thanks must go to the parents of this group of girls who have supported them along their journey and many thanks to all the supporters who made the journey from Lissan in double quick time from the Under 16 football championship final to be in Swatragh to see Sinead McDonald collect the Under 14 championship cup. Tuesday evening was a busy time for all the Watty's with the quick dash from the Under 14 Camogs victory in the championship semi final to Swatragh to see the Under 14 football championship final, their opponents being Slaughtneil. Glen settled in quickly and Tomas Convery scored an early goal but Slaughtneil didn't panic and pegged back the scores. Glen continued to attack and were four points up at half time Glen 1-6 Slaughtneil 0-5. As per usual this was a closely fought contest between these two teams but Glens experience and skill kept them ahead and a goal from Mark Doole during the second half sealed the victory for Glen Final score Glen 2-10 Slaughtneil 0-10. Lissan was the venue for the Under 16 football championship final on Sunday morning. The opponents this time was Magherafelt. Glen got off to a good start and totally dominated the first fifteen minutes of the game but only managed to put 1-3 on the scoreboard. They let Magherafelt back into the game with four points without reply but Glen did manage the last point of the half giving them a three point lead going in at half time Glen 1-4 Magherafelt 0-4. Magherafelt started the second half strongly and came to within a single point of Glen, this proved to be a low scoring half with both teams going long periods without scoring. Paul Gunning then got Glen on the score sheet again and put some breathing space between the teams, Glen finished the game off with a further two points without reply from Magherafelt. Final score Glen 1-7 Magherafelt 0-6. Stephen O'Hara was named player of the match, well done to him.
