Good luck goes to Glen Under 14 and Under 16 Football teams who play in their County finals this weeks. The Under 14's take on Slaughtneil in Swatragh on Tuesday evening at 7pm. The Under 16's play Magherafelt in Lissan on Sunday at 12noon.
The Under 14 Camogie team takes on Swatragh in the Championship semi final on Tuesday evening at Swatragh. Throw in is at 6pm. Good luck to the team and management.
The Seniors produced a late, late comeback to draw with Newbridge in the Senior Championship. Mark O'Donnell getting both Glen goals. Final score Glen 2-08 Newbridge 1-11. The replay is Monday night in Swatragh at 6.45pm.
Glen played Kilrea in the Minor Football Championship Swatragh on Monday evening. The playing conditions were terrible and lead to a poor enough game. Glen were very slow to start and found themselves four points adrift midway through the first half. A goal from Ryan Winton helped their cause and Glen started to get into the game by half time they trailed by a single point, Glen 1-2 Kilrea 0-6. The second half was somewhat different; Glen had most of the possessions but failed to make this count on the scoreboard. They did take the lead during the 2nd half but Kilrea then scored a goal against the run of play. Glen continued to attack but failed to take the lead again despite missing numerous scoring chances from both play and frees. Final score Glen 1-8 Kilrea 1-9. Team & Scorers Ciaran McCloy, Conor Carville, John McKenna, Ryan McDonald, Enda Bradley(0-1), Tommy McCloy, Brendan O'Kane, Joe Bradley, Emmett Bradley(0-5), Conor Gallagher, Dean Bradley(0-1), Seanie McGroogan, Ryan Winton (1-0), Ciaran McFaul, Michael Warnock (0-1), Sub used Paddy Mullan
In the Under 16 Championship, Glen travelled to Swatragh on Wednesday evening, the opposition yet again was Kilrea. The first half was a close affair during which Kilrea had a player sent off for kicking. Half time score was Glen 2-8 Kilrea 2-5. Glen continued to do enough to increase their lead and ended up winning the game by seven points, Glen 2-18 Kilrea 2-11. Glen played well in patches but improvement will be required if they are to defeat Magherafelt in the County Final.
The Under 14 Camogie team played Lavey in the championship at home on Tuesday evening. When these teams met in the league it was a close game with Glen winning by a few points. This turned out to be a totally different game with Glen dominating from start to finish, half time score Glen 7-1 Lavey 0-0. The second half saw more of the same with Glen running out easy winners on a scoreline of Glen 12-3 Lavey 0-0.
