MacRory Cup: Omagh to meet Coleman's in decider

March 04, 2010
Omagh CBS will meet St Coleman's Newry in this year's MacRory Cup final after comfortably defeating St Mary's Magherafelt yesterday afternoon at Celtic Park by 0-18 to 0-8.

The Tyrone students were well on their way to a second successive decider after opening up a 0-8 to 0-4 lead at the break, with Conor Grugan leading the way in the scoring stakes for the eventual winners.

St Mary's shot themselves in the foot early on in the second-half when Conor McCann and David McGuckin were both sent off, and despite Aaron Devlin's attempts to try and keep them in the game with 0-5, Omagh still cruised to victory, as Grugan, Ronan O'Neill and Cathair McCullagh pointed to a ten-point win.

In the other semi-final on Tuesday night, St Coleman's edged out holders St Patrick's Dungannon at Casement Park, where two goals from Tony McGreevy helped Colman's take a commanding 2-1 to 0-1 lead after the first quarter.

Conor McAliskey's goal helped Dungannon level the game at 1-5 to 2-2 by the interval, but four second-half points from Chris Clarke made sure the Newry side progressed to the final.
