Gráinne McGoldrick receives her award from Noel Doran, Editor of the Irish News
Derry's Gráinne McGoldrick was the first ever winner of the Camogie Merit Award at the annual Irish News Ulster GAA All Star Awards. This year, for the first time, the prestigious Award ceremony included a merit award for Camogie.
The event honours the cream of Ulster GAA and was attended by a who's who in Ulster and national GAA circles including Ulster Camogie's Catherine O'Hara, Uachtarán Cumann Luthchleas Gael, Christy Cooney and Ard Stiurthoir Padraic Duffy.
Gráinne scored 0-8 in Derry's recent All Ireland Intermediate Semi Final defeat to Cork and was instrumental in the Oak Leaf girls regaining their Ulster Crown.
Gráinne said: "We were extremely disappointed to lose to Cork in the All Ireland semi-final, it was a game that we felt we probably should have won. It's an honour to be selected for this award and it's nice recognition for my club Eoghan Rua and for Derry."
