Derry giants Slaughtneil have appointed Terence McWilliams as their new senior football manager.

A former manager of the club, McWilliams succeeds Mickey Moran who stepped down last month following the Ulster champions' All-Ireland semi-final extra time defeat to Nemo Rangers.

During his time in charge, Moran steered the club to four Derry senior championship titles, three Ulster titles and two All-Ireland final appearances at Croke Park - both of which ended in defeat.

Kilrea native McWilliams is the Ulster Council's former Games Development Manager and his appointment comes after rife speculation that ex-Antrim manager Liam Bradley was set to take the reins at the Robert Emmets club.
