Replying To togoutlads:  "If we play with fear in attack, defaulting to constant recycling and playing it safe, not taking on the man, not playing creatively but stifled into 'just don't make a mistake' football, then I've zero doubt that Mayo will win. Those predictable patterns are turnover heaven for them, they'll smother us and frustrate us out of the game. What McStay and the Mayo back lines categorically don't want is Galway bringing chaos, high tempo mayhem with lots of support runners, lines run at speed at all kinds of angles. They won't handle it and we have to bring chaos. Mayo did it for years, in the matches where they really clicked they'd bring a couple of 10-15 min spells of absolute mayhem, that looked almost unstructured and fluid but was well rehearsed, they had an internal name for it - the name escapes me - it was mayhem or something to that affect - and that's what their defence and midfield would not like to see from us. I'm not sure if we've the fitness to do it but predictability and playing it safe plays into McStay and Rochford's hands - trust me, they'll handle that all day long, they won't handle full throttle creative football half as well."
Chaos instead of mayhem perhaps?

"Galway bringing chaos, high tempo mayhem with lots of support runners" One of my all time favourite lines from this forum -
pandemonium would be another word we could use - or Panda for short. The Mayo lads may not want to hurt the endangered species and go easy on us.

Replying To Mayonman:  "We need to be brave against Mayo and take on our man. Constant recycle will kill us.

Mayo will press the kick out so we need to be prepared to go over the top. That might mean Comer coming out for the odd one but if it works a couple of times Mayo may have to ease up on the press.

I've no worries about our backs handling ROD and AOS. As a previous poster said, it's the likes of Durkan and the runners from deep that concern me.

Huge game. Win this and all bets are off. Top seeding and the expectation that our squad will get stronger with players returning etc would give us great hope.

Maher and Sweeney are important. Are they likely to be available?"
Paddy Durcan could be a major doubt..

Any idea when tickets are on general sale for the Connacht final?

Tomorrow at 2pm hopefully the Connacht Gaa has the common sense not to charge 35€ for stand tickets but I doubt they will.

Given it was €30 for the stand up in Markievicz the last day I'd imagine they'll tack on the extra fiver… they know the Mayo followers will snap them up no matter the price.

If memory serves right they were €40 2 years ago when Galway played Roscommon but not 100% sure on this.

I was away for last years game so didn't make it but heard the split was 50/50.

Can't use the term 'gay abandon' anymore anyway, even though Mick Dunne was very fond of that term back in the day.

Haha but lads what about the "Mayo Roar", did you ever hear so much codswallop from an intercounty manager?

Let's do our talking on the pitch, we owe them one and if our lads can't get up for this one and deliver a performance then we are going nowhere. No team in Championship should be coming into our patch and going away with the win, we are well able to beat them and we should be expecting to.

Galway U20s at their best tonight, the better weather conditions really suit them and get close to that performance in the final the young tribesmen will be hard stopped.

35 for the stand for the last Connacht final there 2 years ago.

The fact that neither made an appearance against Sligo would suggest that they won't start against Mayo. Hopefully they'll be ready for a 20 minute stint at the end of the game.

I think a style in the form of "Taz the Tasmanian Devil" would give Mayo the jitters and make for a fascinating spectacle.

Hidley ho, Flanders! I'm glad you liked it. The term was chaos alright and it's something that the Mayo team have regularly trained for and brought into games in recent years and while they haven't landed an AI off the back of it, they've consistently been at the top table. Cavan gave a right good account of themselves v Tyrone and their manager talked about them bringing chaos to the game to break a Tyrone stranglehold in defence. I'm saying it again, if Galway play slow buildup, ponderous, predictable, safe-option, recycling football we will categorically be beaten by Mayo - McStay and Rochford and their men have our number in that game. We need something else.

They definitely need the firmer ground with the ball going into that forward line. Looked dangerous every time they kicked it into the forward line last night. They can definitely make something out of Jack Mullen. Good size and strength and an excellent left foot. Thompson does look a class apart.

Hard to believe he's only out of minor."
At the risk of repeating myself, I'm going to repeat myself. He was the best midfielder on the pitch last night by a mile. Coen at centre back very good also and the forwards seem to be all on form to be fair.

It was also clear as day that McGrath in goals is extremely accurate off the tee and his accuracy in hitting the runners was brilliant to see.

The U20's were brilliant last night in fairness. 23 points is some shooting even in good conditions. Mad to think they lost handy enough to Mayo early on and Mayo finished 5th in the end and Galway are now in the final on the back of their best display.

McGlinchey size and build plus skill set makes him ready to make a quick set up to Senior level. As Maurice Brosnan stated recently McGrath's kick outs are like cream what a luxury to have that. Costello,Thompson are among the best forwards at this grade.

And it's the same price for this final. Connacht GAA not using their common sense once again.
