I have not been in Breifni Park in 3 weeks after having surgery in the Mater but Having had a chat with Joe Prunty I think we will get the matches played despite the condition of both ends. I would say after the weekend common sense might prevail and they will close it so that these areas can be re sodded and given a chance to settle in. Not sure about the third match Sunday but it's the CCC that make the decisions where matches are played. It has held up well despite all the matches that have been played on it over the last few months."
Sean...you haven't set foot in Breffni in 3 weeks, so you didn't see Kingscourt play any football, yet you predict that they'll either draw or beat the Gaels....is this just a guess, or have you anything to back up your predictions?

I think I'm well qualified to talk given what Ive achieved in my 20 odd years playing Senior Football and representing my County.

I've also seen alot of games this year, including Kingscourt and the Gaels, so I'll stick by my 10 pt win for the Gaels."

I have seen the Gaels play and Kingscourt as well cavanblueman I am not sure there is a difference of ten points between them.
Alan Clarke is a trojan leader and not one to lay down easy I feel your prediction might be a bit over the top. If Barry Reilly's injury was what everyone thought on the night was what one thought maybe 2 or three points but with Joe Dillion playing great stuff and Barry Reilly kicking fantastic frees and contributing to play as well that has led to a goal or two. Also Tinnelly Faulkener Smith to name a few others.
If Flynn was playing against Cootehill well my opinion of him has changed for I thought he was a good ball stopper and he is dodgy in the air but better than Cassidy.
I think for your predictions I feel you need to revise. Don't put money on them in the bookies for sure. Breifne is heavy the young lads like fast ground and will not get it this weekend.
Congratulations on your contribution to the county over the last twenty odd years so I expect you have an Ulster medal and probably 11 or twelve senior medals but please try and look at it with an open mind and remove the blinkers it will help. I expect I will not be at this match or any of the others and probably the county finals either but I hope football wins on the day. Good luck to who ever wins

Well I saw Kingscourt play at least two matches in Breifni over the last 6 weeks or so. I saw the one Barry Reilly got injured in and the one he came on as sub I feel this qualifies me to have an opinion. I went into hospital on the 4th had my operation on the 5th I have not seen any matches since the 4th September. I think KIngcourt played the weekend of the 1st 2nd or 3rd if I am not mistaken.

Crosserlough played Kingscourt on the 3rd which was a Sunday evening so I saw them then for sure.

I saw them play Ramor also on the 5th of August so I am in a position to have an opinion.

Replying To cavanblueman:  "Kingscourt are an average team, struggled to get past Crosserlough, and had Killygarry played anything like the first day, Kingscourt would have been out of sight. Kingscourt played 2 men back on Conor Smith, and they'll do the same on Johnston, but the Gaels have better forwards than Killygarry. Rather than push on, Killygarry sat back, but the Gaels wont sit back, they'll attack at pace.

i'll confidently say that I'd be surprised if Kingscourt kept within 10 pts of the Gaels, so ill go on record as saying the Gaels by 10 pts or more."
Fair play to you , almost got it right!
Very good performance by the Gaels . Johnston and Dunne still 2 of the best forwards in the county . Johnston's off the ball movement is top class.
They've tightened up their defence from the Crosserlough game big time .
Clarke probably the best of what Kingscourt had to offer.
Dillon , Tinnelly , Faulkner . B Reilly were all made to look very ordinary by a super fit Gaels side.

Barry Reilly if marked tightly can be nullified. Lovely player when has space. That's why at county level he hasn't shone. Gaels looked good but Kingscourt have bring sputtering through the championship anyway. Ramor will give the Gaels a game as they'll be fresh for final. In group game Ramor were training heavily before game looking at bigger picture.

You'd think as a Castlerahan man Dora, you'd give your boys some chance of upsetting the odds today and reaching the final

Gaels looked very impressive last night. Johnson was best player on the pitch but Gaels looked much faster, fitter & stronger than a very disappointing kingscourt side. Gaels playing with serious confidence that comes with a long unbeaten run & the full forward line of dunne, Johnson & o Connor excellent. They are going to be hard beaten in the final

And did that bigger picture include getting to the final?

It did. Only for Mackey they would of. Only bit of class on pitch.

Should be a good final . Think the Gaels will have too much class for them but it's a final and anything can happen on the day.
Best of luck to both teams. May a good game of football be the winner.

The Cavan Champions are at home to the Antrim winners in Ulster. 2008 was the last time Cavan won a game in the Ulster Senior Club. It won't be St Galls as they were knocked out early in Antrim. Likely to be Cargin. They have the past 2 titles up there.

Gaels good offensively and a lot of class. Castlerahan strong at the back. It'll be interesting but Gaels to ultimately win.

Battles all over the field today really impressed with James Brady his movement/vision/passing all very impressive. Proud of our men in maroon this evening and looking forward to the County Final in a couple of weeks time.

Great win for Castlerahan, Mackey outstanding. Great resiliance again from them, especially after last year! Solid win for Cavan Gaels and I can't see Castlerahan beating them to be honest. They have all the attributes and I hope they can at least break the long run of defeats for Cavan teams in Ulster. Really disappointed with Ramor this year, missing quite a few from previous year but still a poor title defence. Kingscourt have also been quite average and perhaps ageing quite a bit! Gaels to win by 5 or 6.
