Midfield is a problem. McKiernan does a lot of work but don't seem to be an out and out catcher which is sometimes needed for kickouts.
Mossy although a workhorse seems to run out of steam in the last 20mins."
Didn't think Mossy for going at all on Sunday.

If rather see Buchanan back in. Didn't put a foot wrong last year and was still dropped and hasn't had a proper look in this year.

Maybe Faulkner at Midfield when he is match-fit would be the best solution.

If a back scores and he's on a team that doesn't lose , chances are he gets on team of the weak .

Hasn't had a proper look because he was injured.

He can kick a score and has nothing to prove to anyone unlike some.
And yes he kicked a vital score that keeps us in the hunt for another week.
Post something constructive Skelling... if your able"
Seanie is not good enough. That was shown so far this year and last year when ground got hard.

I think we should now leave the backs alone and stop experimenting unless of course someone is playing badly.
We need to do something about midfield though as we're not winning nearly enough possession even from our own kickouts."
There is no movement from any of our players on our own kickouts. It's something we really need to work on before Monaghan.

He's as good as what's there . I haven't seen him waste many chances when he gets the ball. Have you? Maybe you could enlighten me?
He certainly don't kick too many wide from play ... or frees.

Seanie has been top scorer from play since he came back in the side. That makes him good enough.
So your statement don't hold up. Maybe you have other ideas what a corner forward should be doing?
Maybe you should let the sour grapes thing pass now. It's played out..

You obviously weren't at Monaghan game when he missed two very simple frees. And he might not miss much when he gets ball but the problem is he can't win it. A half decent corner back eats him up and then he comes out round 40 looking for handy ball but can't beat a man. Madden and Dillon much more dynamic. I also think Johnson looks overweight.

Played 3/4 against Mayo didn't score. Came on late against Kerry. One ball into him and he spilled it, took a free won by a dirty ball won by McDermott. Always injured supposedly but that's nothing new.

The team is starting to be more comfortable on the ball now and are in the game for more than just 20 to 30 minutes. There is a confidence growing all the time and I am expecting more of the same for this game. In the game against Mayo, we could have had another goal allowed and another point on the board and one less against us if the ref had done his job. Last week, the ref definitely let the Kerry players have afew more steps apart from one time when he blew up - probably because he had enraged the crowd so much. So in my book, we should have beaten Mayo by 7 points, beaten Kerry by 2 and indeed if you were at the Monaghan game, I'm sure you would agree, we left the second pont behind there also with all the turnovers and the amount of easy frees and possession we had. As crazy as it sounds, we should probably be in the position to be playing for a final place, at this stage.

The way things have progressed - we should be looking to create as many goal scoring opportunities as possible and like Barcelona did, we should just go for it, throw caution to the wind and try to score as many goals as possible. This team has certainly turned things around and shown that they can compete and have nothing to fear. They are a damn good team !

Roscommon do not have the squad that they had last year. They are a shadow of the squad that they had last year. They have a couple of good forwards but I believe we have a hard working defence that can match any team now as long as they keep their heads and don't foul, as they proved against Monaghan, Mayo, and to a lesser extent Kerry.

There is serious pressure on Roscommon to perform on Sunday and their defence are not up to it so far.

Our attack has scored goals against Tyrone, Mayo and Kerry and created a damn good effort against Donegal towards the end of that game. Every attack should be looking at building on this and really focusing on creating those goal chances.

One thing is certain, if the game reduces to a lateral mundane passing game of donkey, this won't happen. If we continue to play with more incisiveness and intent as seen from standout leaders Faulkner and Clarke and try to expose McVeety, McKiernan and Dillon, perhaps via some Martin Reilly magical passes we might get those chances. I think McDermott has now landed and will make a bigger contribution going forward. He's a big game player and can turn games as proved against Kerry twice and Galway last year in Pearse Stadium.

Apart from that, we need to sort out our kickouts. I am a big fan of Raymond Galligan and he wont mind playing against the Rossies either. Didn't he score 10 points against them a couple of years ago. It might not be a bad idea to put James Farrelly in goal - he had a brilliant game against Monaghan. His kickout restarts were as good as Cluxtons against Monaghan - and put Raymond Galligan full forward - that might be pushing it - but we need some lateral thinking if we want to beat these guys out the door !

This Cavan team is coming good now - if we can put together a game for 70 minutes, sort out our kickout strategy and push up on theirs - I mean there is a tendency for some of our players to turn their backs on the opposing sides restarts and head directly back to the half back line. The opposing side is effectively starting from Midfield - this needs to be sorted ! We pushed up on Tyrone in the Mckenna Cup and it worked well ! Oh yeah that's the McKenna Cup !

I think we should just go for it now and try and beat the Rossies by as much as possible. There is only one team that should win on Sunday, if we really want it, it will be us, there is quality thoughout but we need to see it for 75 minutes. How much we win by will depend on how ruthless we are. I really want to see how good we are and this is the place to do it ! I'll be there, will you ? Breffni Abu !

if's and buts. A pointless exercise bemoaning missed chances and rwferee decisions. Every county can say the same. We are where we are because that's where we deserve to be. I don't remember playing Galway in Pearse Stadium last year. I remember being in Breffni for the Galway game though and a great game it was. i would have no problem with Farrelly in Goals, He is a solid keeper and concedes few goals but Galligan is the man in possesion and to be fair he hasn't done much wrong. We need more movement at kickouts from our outfield playrs to give him options.

Sadly I will not be there for there is a senior ladies match on the main pitch against Laois at the same time that's the problem with the ladies and men the ladies are always competing at the same time unfortunately but I will be hoping they win by as many points as they can for if it becomes a three way decider we will be relegated. Lets hope Kerry take at least a point from Tyrone a point will do fine this will put them on 7 points lets hope Donegal beat Mayo and we beat Roscommon but if it becomes a three way split right now we are in trouble so the more they score on Sunday might well help us to stay up. It's a situation we should not be in but we are so I hope the Boss is thinking as we are pile it on. As for playing Galligan up front he would not be fit enough as the goalies drills are completely different than the outfielders. Roll on another year in Division one.

I think Buchanan is the natural answer at midfield and I would love to see Gearoid back on the 40. McVeety is doing very well there this year though but he has been rotating. He is clinical at full forward also as he showed last weekend! Buchanan and Argue need to be pushing our present midfield and we need some options. Any top level county has at least 4 options and it is still a vital area for getting on the front foot.

I am hoping for a win over Roscommon but to suggest that we would get enough to make us better than Mayo or Kerry on score difference is madness. A 1 point win would do me and the rest is with the gods. We have no right, based on our last number of meetings, to think that we can go down to the Hyde and give Roscommon a trimming.

Buchannan is not the answer at midfield at Division 1 or for a team aiming to win Ulster. Definitely not.

Folks

We want a performance on Sunday to match the one produced against Mayo and better than the one produced against Kerry. If we get that the result will take care of itself.

As for the other games concerning the teams at the bottom, they are out of our control.

Neither is Mossy unfortunately.

Who is?

Don't think it suits Killian Clarke.

Is Rory worth a shot there? Faulkner? Argue? McCutcheon?

Not a particularly appealing list.
