Paul from what i hear is a good coach, but doesnt tend to stick around too long at clubs

Its a sad situatition when nearly every Club manager appointed is quite clearly doing it for one reason and one reason only...money..!!! This is not a healthy thing for our allready cash strapped clubs and very soon no club member will want to get involved with their own club when they see an outsider getting paid...? I wonder how many clubs have an actuall paid up club member manageing their senior team...?

totally agree Sean66, its like a merrygoround of managers all seeking the best deal, there have been some Managers who have looked after every club in the parish, but his own local club, because there was no money invloved, bit of a shame

Completely agree with the 2 previous posts. As the former Chairman of Cavan CB said a couple of years, payments to club managers is a cancer in the organisation and our county is one of the worst offenders. Its a slippery slope, you take a job on, get paid well for 9 - 10 months, then your not going to take anything less in the next job your offered or go seeking. Fair enough if there is a lot of mileage involved but I know some of the managers who are in neighbouring parishes, all they had to do was hop into the next field and were getting crazy money. Have to agree with Brolly on this one where he said that Clubs should be managed/coached by club members and then get help from the county boards if needs be.

I believe Club Memebers are looked down on as to there Standards and Qualifications in Coaching there Senior Teams, Unless they are someone who's made a name for themself in management before hand, Clubs are not willing to give good Honest hard working Club men a chance in management I believe!!

or in some Cases some Club have giving some a chance and it didnt go well as they didnt get the respect from players that was deserved and endured poor seasons and this has stopped other Club men putting themselves forward for the job when the opportunity comes around!!

We've had inside managers that had to be paid and outsiders who wouldn't take anything. Don't presume all managers are the same.

Fair play to the three, they are are an extremely rare and distinct breed, you should try and hold on to these, there hidden gems!, and very much a tiny minority fair play to them.

Anyone know what the going rate is then ? Always seems to be buried in the yearly accounts along with other expenses, it seems only a few key people in each club know exactly what the payment is.
