Just watching Cork v Kerry. If only we had a forward like James O'Donoghue in Cavan! Super player.

gonnie glad to see someone mention Enda Reilly. Don't know why he's never being considered. He's strong and knows were the posts are.

You are right Ned... O Donoghou is a super player but if he was in the Cavan team they would never kick the ball into him...!!!!

And if they actually did he probably wouldn't be allowed to shoot

Sean and goonie,

Both correct lads. Kerry and these top teams just make the game look so simple, but it is a simple game, we have over-complicated it big time with the way we play.

People talk so much about Shine's injury. Do people forget we are missing Mackey, Dunne, Keating, Clarke (all Ulster All Stars last year), Kevin Tierney, Ronan Flanagan (arguably our most experienced player) and McVeety from last year. That's seven starters so half of our starting 15 almost. Fergal Flanagan also missed last game. We've a string panel but those losses would hit any team.

Cavan are picking from a big panel of i think over 40 players and its a young panel i don't think the starting 15 is set in stone. 4 in a row Ulster U-21s titles Cavan have won whatever team is named next Saturday will be a strong Cavan side for example Givney,Argue weren't used much during the league this year however both are are two the best underage players of recent years.

Dunne started the league final missed at least 1-5 and Keating,Mackey came on against Westmeath and both should feature against Roscommon. Isn't one of those Flanagan back now also after serving a one match ban? Tierney,McVeety have yet to hold down a starting spot.

Systems make it possible for very average footballers to look like a fairly decent team and allows them to frustrate their opposition. The downside of it is systems destroy the creativity of good players. Where a "system" approach is imposed by the management, good creative players cannot play risky football , be cause if they do take risks and it doesn't work out they are taken off and replace d with a robotic type player who will fit the "system". Forwards eg Enda Reilly , Paul O Connor, Eugene Keating are leaders and risk takers they have to be. But Cavan won't play them on the senior team till they get the creativity knocked out of them. Cavan have relied on this approach and it has paid off in so far as we have frustrated teams and not allowed them play but we will never play like Kerry, Mayo, Dublin or Tyrone as long as we stop the development of good players. So many clubs have sent. Good players in to the county system and they come back to their clubs having lost that edge that risk taking that made them good players to start with. I could name players who have gone back ways in the present system but I won't. Hope we win on Saturday we have done Trojan work on our tackling and defending , we have to let our forwards play, give them the ball and let them take their scores, and play our forwards as forwards.

Cork defending was like a Junior C team today, so of course it looked simple.

Let's be realistic we did very well against Westmeath considering the players we were down but with 4 ulster u21s under our belt we haven't produced one out and out scoring forward.
There in lies the problem. Kerry and Dublin were impressive and it's hard to see beyond them this year.
We need to concentrate on the future and the production of fast moving scoring forwards, then and only then will the future be blue.

Nah. That's two years in a row Kerry have taken Cork apart, absolutely destroyed them. Direct open football gets results. It is the way to go.

Meant to be confirmed today. How or why they've waited a full week after the draw was made to confirm the time is beyond me. People have arrangements to make or time to take off work to go along to it. Why not give people as much notice as possible? And then they'll be left wondering why there's not 15,000 people at the game.
